royal mail special delivery...do i need to sign?

whats the score with special delivery now with covid etc? will they photo it or do i need to be there and sign?

In the last year or so - everything I have had - ( including some rather pricey contents ) - have been left without a signature.

But then - I'm in the sticks - and leaving stuff on the doorstep is pretty safe.

I've not had to visit a collection office to pick up a signed for package since before Covid.

My postie either leaves it with a neighbour, or like one I've had this week, if it fits through the letter box they will just post as normal.

Can't speak for everywhere though obviously.

Well I've hundreds of pounds worth of money lost owing to the postman not getting a signature on items returned through the rm on items I purchased on eBay and the seller fraudulently said they did not receive it because the postman could not be arsed to get the signature. On that basis the so called PayPal guarantee isn't worth the money the pixel is displaying it on.

I've even had items delivered to me and signed by the postman.. Well the whole point of the signature is to say that you have received the goods. If the item is broken in transit then you have no comeback.. Rant over.

Yes, I've not had to sign for anything from the PO, they've just been put through the letter box. Yesterday day though, I had something a bit bigger and the postman said they now need to take a photo with the door open, like some other couriers do.

Had a delivery last week that had to be signed for, got a text through at approx 2.30 statng my package had been delivered to my address and signed for by 'saleen836', considering I was 26miles away from home at the time at work I did wonder how I could have managed it!
Package had been left in my rear porch so no hassle but I did wonder what hassle I would be in for had it not been there

We're supposed to bang on your door , tell you you've got a special , ask your name which we type on the pda then we sign it as covid19 and hand it over to you .

Nationally we no longer hand the pda over for you to sign , we just ask your name and sign it covid19.

If you claim the item was never delivered to you our managers can get the gps location of the pda when your item was signed .
