When it all kicks off and the balloon goes up and the chips are down, which source of information will reach your first?

No option for seeing a big glow to the East?? eek

I went for PH as it's the site I look at throughout the day and I only really check the news first thing.

I'll get a news alert on my phone. Not a poll option for that! (so I answered 'other website')

Define "war"?

Are we talking about one of those little wars in far off, undeveloped countries that seem to start on a regular basis or a full scale conflict between peer nations?

The former you hardly ever hear about except as a side bar or filler article. The later you will know about months before they happen. Large conflicts don't just spring up out of nowhere.

Those of us old enough to remember the preludes to both Afghanistan and Iraq is that there was reporting on it for weeks, if not months leading up to actual military action.

WhatsApp groups I’d say, those will light up no matter what time of day or night it occurs.

If you are talking something involving Uk & Russia, the first you'll hear of it is you probably won't!

First victim of any attack would be internet & mobiles! Take down a countries internet & bang everything stops.

There will probably be a couple of competing threads, one criticising the BBC for not saying war is a good thing and the other saying there isn’t a war it is just part of the COVID reset with the Conservatives wanting to introduce a Socialist world order.

I'm not sure if Russia has a couple of EMP weapons to hand.

You don't need that, sleepers will be mobilised and unplug things.

News website, but that isn't really a proper option on the list which is strange.

From a "war correspondent" on a news service. The "war correspondent" will make themselves out to be the most important person in the Universe.

They test the emergency sirens once a month here (NL), and have a national text message alert system, so probably one of those.

Back in the 70's/80's (in the UK) we had a nuclear warning alert on our phone line so would have been among the first to find out and would have been expected to spend out last 4 minutes winding the handle on the siren in our garage.

Given how closely it is being monitored, the news will come out quite quickly. Satellite phones, drone observations, etc
