Ordered the Samsung Q950A ( https://www.samsung.com/uk/audio-devices/soundbar/... ) soundbar system last week.

It was supposed to be delivered last Thursday, however they failed to deliver it this day, then the storm happened Friday - so they couldn't deliver then as they needed to cross the severn Bridge.

Was promised it would be delivered on Saturday, this didn't happen.

Same on Monday, and today. According to the tracking it was returned to the depot in Cardiff on the Thursday, and has not left since.

After having pretty strong words today, they have pretty much admitted that they don't know where the item is!!!

Now i know the depot must be pretty big, but how the fk do you just lose a 130cm X62cmX28cm 27KG box???????????

Which makes me think someone in the chain has nicked it? but surely there must be so many camera's/security etc in the depot chain that it would be obvious who did it??

So do we thing they are just incredibly incompetent? or is it easy enough for staff to nick stuff?

What's really pissing me off is the item is now out of stock, so if they don't manage to find it, i will have to wait for a replacement!

I have always thought of DPD as one of the best couriers, but with how they have handled this, i currently would rate them lower than Hermes!

Let's say I'm your DPD delivery driver and you're not in to accept the delivery, so it is returned to depot. I suspect your item is high value, so I stop and stash it in a bush, to collect after dropping the van back, How can anyone prove anything?

I remember when the iPhone 6 was launched and I bought 2 for The Vikingettes. We had no way of knowing when it would be delivered and indeed were out. I remember going to the UPS depot to collect. There were customers waiting for each driver and the driver would bring their items in from the van into reception and "deliver". Except my driver, who refused to come in and my items were "lost".

Yes thats the only way i can think it can be nicked, but surely the fact it was not delivered means he would have to sign it back into the depot (which was done). And he will surely be on CCTV checking an item back in without said item??

If it's one item occasionally lost then DPD won't do anything. If the same Courier loses a dozen items each trip then of course they'll look into it.

Just googled nock and learnt something new today so the title was not wasted.

That would be my guess.

Be clever about what you nick and you might get away with it.

99.99% of delivery drivers dont nick things. A 2nd rate soundbar vs a 25/30k year a job means its not worth the risk.
Where your parcel has gone you have to remember they deal with 100,000s of parcels every day and most are only in the building for less than 2hours.

So yes it would be very easy for your parcel no matter how big or small to get missorted on return and will probably end up being delivered back to the sender in the next 30days.

Dpd once lost a very large network cabinet I shipped.

On the pallet it must have been 7ft high by whatever a pallet is square & needing pallet trucks or a fork lift to move.

Never did work that one out hehe

It’s probably not a case of losing the item, but losing the label

As a former DPD driver:

You need to check all items back into the depot at the end of your shift, if there's even a single item missing you have to go to the office and you can't leave until its found/sorted out. If it's a high value item a full investigation is performed there and then where your van is searched and you are interviewed for an hour. If item still isn't found the full replacement cost is taken out of your pay. They take theft very very seriously.

Surely every parcel is scanned again at this stage (back at the actual depot) after a failed delivery. So if there is no scan & then no record of a delivery something must have happened en-route back to the depot? Sure mistakes can happen I guess but I was under the impression that the amount of scanning & photographs that takes place should prevent most thefts?

Funnily enough I have just had a dispute raised against me on ebay for an item I sent with Parcelforce, the tracking shows it was loaded onto a van for delivery last Tuesday and then nothing since. I called Parcelforce they just told me it's missing and that the courier reported that it wasn't on the van (even though it was scanned onto his van) and I've basically got to suck it up hehe lesson learned
