What mechanical/engine based hobbies do you have?
Discussion
Not engine based but mechanical for sure. Slowly but surely I'm teaching myself horology. I started out with a Korean Westminster chime wall clock, whose innards I bathed and oiled. I now have four Dutch 'Atlas' clocks which all have German weight-driven movements. Some are designed to run for 30 hours, others are eight day models.
There's a ton of reading up/research involved and not many special tools but you do need a touch like a midwife, as Blaster Bates said. It's rewarding challenge when you've resurrected a dying timepiece.
