Churchill car insurance, it's not the music itself, but the constant "we'll be right with you"

I've spent a lot of time on hold thanks to Vodafone recently:

Taylor Swift - Willow
Coldplay - Flags
Cleo Sol - Butterfly

That Cleo Sol song is just so depressingly bland and monotonal.

I worked for a Japanese software house, the hold music was a song about our IT solution, how it is going to serve and protect you from cyber baddies

"You call is very important to us"

Well, if it was that important, you'd employ more fking people and answer it.

I could listen to bitter sweet symphony on loop for hours, so disagree with that one hehe
This one is used by several companies over here and is pretty teeth gnashing after a while

Not worst, but when I called our Volvo dealership last week I realised their hold music is the same as when I get the Aga serviced. I am clearly very middle class.

Problem is most systems used very low bit-rate recordings which sounded awful
Now many are running on IP now , many even hosted remotely in a DC or some other "cloud" based platform, and most companies scrimp on their WANs to save a few quid you end up with what sounds like someone crinkling paper constantly in your ear!

Yes, in particular the way it's a short tune on a loop which keeps stopping for a second, making you think that someone might actually be about to answer the phone. But no, it starts up again.

Not sure who it is but might be Sky, they have what is basically a knock off of Coldplays Clocks, it drives me insane as its so similar but with some notes changed and it grates like mad.

I have yet to find a company with a decent phone system let alone one with listenable music .
The worst seem to be tech or phone companies. Their systems seem to be awful and bombard you with gems like , you can usually find the answer to your problem on line ,@#$%$#@ if I could sort my problem out without hanging on a phone for hours I certainly would .
It's almost as bad as a call center that is so noisy you can barely hear the person on the phone who is using the cheapest headset that Ali Baba ever sold .

The worst hold music are the ones that stop abruptly between tracks, making you think the call has been answered:

[music] [music] [music] We're sorry all our operators are busy. Your call is important to us. [music] [music] [music]

Er, not it's not. You made the financial decision between the number of callers vs the number of operators and decided to reduce that further because profit matters the most. Let's not pretend here. biggrin

That is quite spectacular. I listened long enough to recognise a Britney Spears song, but I think I prefer the original over this instrumental cover. biggrin

I'm overjoyed when I get a real record.
Many companies are too mean to pay the royalties for 'real' music.
