Products that have got worse over your life
Discussion
Despite many shortcomings, capitalism does generally lead to products getting both better and cheaper (as well as creating whole new product ranges). Just as one example TVs have improved amazingly over my life.
However this improvement doesn’t seem universal. Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, I had a Cadbury’s Cream Egg. It was so different from those of my childhood. Not just the quality of the chocolate but more importantly the thickness. When I was younger the chocolate shell was much thicker, you had to bite reasonably hard to get through to the “yolk” and the bottom was particularly thick. The one I had yesterday almost fell apart after the first bite as the chocolate was so thin. NZ cream eggs are imported from the UK so should be the same (unless they are made worse specially for us!)
Any other examples of products that have got worse, not better, over the years?
Perhaps the problem is that no one else makes a cream egg so there is a lack of competition to maintain or increase quality.

Mobile phones for actually making phone calls.
In the very early 90s I could travel from n midlands to my home near Boscombe Down and have a phone conversation the whole way, on a Nokia phone with pull up aerial.
I was back down there working last month and phone calls along sections of the a303 near Andover were completely impossible!

I just had the same thought about mobile phones. Took the train from Manchester to Bournemouth on Thursday, trains Wi-Fi was woeful and tethering to my iPhone was also crap.
3G most of the time and even the dreaded E for stretches.
Really is poor!

You're probably right
Pop music... which is now mostly f
king dreadful.
Few seem to understand that harmony is an essential part of music. For the past two decades, all we've heard are tunes and rhythms. All style, no substance.

Walnut whip. Where did the 2nd walnut in the bottom go and why did the chocolate get thinner?
High speed trains, replaced with something as comfortable as a bus, with a worse ride owing to the arrangement of the traction system
Panasonic TVs. They have introduced a few budget models now. Horrible things
