Can you share how things went? Did you argue about which side of the bed to sleep on?

And any non dog owners convince their dog owning partners to give up their "fur babies". Anecdotally, the human rarely wins such an ultimatum.

Why would you expect someone to give up their dog?

Would you ask / expect them to change hobbies? Their interests, etc?

Have you dated a woman before? If you were being facetious, I apologise for not having recognised this.

Friend's partner made out she loved his bearded Collie until he moved in with her. Then it was pretty much exiled to the garden and ignored by her.

That relationship didn't last long after that and he moved out less than a year later having paid for new kitchen and extension. Cost him thousands.

I came in tow with a bony Lurcher when I met my Mrs.

Was a good barometer of character really, if the dog has caused any hassle or friction it would have been the end of the relationship.

As it happened my Mrs is amazing and puts up with the dog far more than me as she works from home.

It also dug a 10ft scrat pit at the bottom of her garden and killed her lawn for good measure laugh

surely this is simple, if you're the one wanting the other to give up their dog then have a word with yourself, if you're having it asked of you see it as a sign that the relationship isn't going to work so bin it off

This seems like one of those posts made by someone who is having a ridiculous, pedantic argument and they know they can only possibly 'win' by harnessing the collective responses to an obscured, seemingly innocent question.

I think it's more about dogging.

Saved him a fortune though.

As I personally can't stand dogs, it would be a dealbreaker for me. It's a hygiene thing for me.

Surely the dog wouldn't mind your hygiene?

It is. He's posted on a number of the relationship threads recently, with some apparently firmly-held views. Strange chap.

There's certainly a fair bit of dog / relationship related interest in OP's recent posting history:

Thread from yesterday - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Followed earlier today with - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

before leading onto this thread hours later. Plus the various mini posts in other threads with regards to either women, marriage, kids, other peoples kids and obviously their dogs.

Edit - and as expected yet another thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/post.asp?h=0&a... - with this reply

Unfortunately, this is not the case. She is very very lazy. She will also complain about people not being nice to her. She's been single for as long as I can tell and is a fervent fur baby mama.
