How often are you checking PH?
Discussion
In the days of time/attention grabbing media, be that PH (forums), netflix, social media etc how often are you logging on to PH?
I tend to find in recent weeks I have been checking in multiple times in a day and this has steadily increased over the time I have been on PH.
What is it do you think that keeps users engaged and continuously coming backing?
ever thought of jacking it in?

It’s a good source of information on various topics.
It’s a shame they’ve excluded posters from parts of the forum but maybe that was to drive posters to quieter parts of the site in which case it has worked.
I have always visited it regularly as there are some friendly and knowledgeable members. – probably once to three times a day. I am not a prolific poster and try to contribute when I can add something useful. The recent change you mentioned only encourages members to post rubbish content in order to meet the magic number.
Over moderated sites often become a statistic.

I tended to post infrequently in the NP&E forum as the topics are more current and controversial but interesting nonetheless, some posters tend to get irrationally overheated over an opposing view.
Too much. An unhealthy amount. It is my default procrastination activity. Oh heck I'm doing it right now...
I am on here more than I am on social media platforms but I do think about jacking those in.
I consider excessive use of all of these to be a procrastination problem which is caused generally by me not being disciplined enough with my time management. It was less of a problem for example back when I was spending time exercising.

Mostly the same as HustelRussell, except without the exercising.
Sometimes I cycle round various forums and by the time I've come back to here there are more new items in 'My Stuff'. If there aren't, I'll idly go looking in the various forums (usually The Lounge as in this case) for new stuff to read/respond to.
I need to get out and do some other stuff I think.

I have a PH tab open on my work PC all day.
I normally refresh "my stuff" every hour or so, post a few times a day.
I am not as active here as I used to be on other forums.
I will be taking a step back from the keyboard this autumn though, so I will probably come here less as I wont be in work thus wont have any need to waste my time as much as possible

Have thought recently about getting rid of all social media and PH and using Reddit only, because it does everything that I want and it's possibly nicer than PH (less combative)?
There are a
holes on all platforms obviously but Twitter seems to be the worst and is the easiest for me to ignore.

Multiple times a day, I deleted Facebook a good couple of years ago, Only other social media I use is Instagram for close family and friends and have another profile purely for the automotive side.
PistonHeads is good, multiple forums which are informative, and lots of helpful people.

you can always use google search by putting in (for example):winged stallion of tat pistonheads
and it'll bring up the correct thread for your needs...
In response to the OP - I'm on here waaaaaay more than is healthy

Only really use PH when I have something to say/ask.
I use Snapchat to check group chats or when I have something to say and instagram when I'm bored and end up mindlessly scrolling through everyone I know’s drivel for today… same for reddit except its usually a stranger’s drivel.
And Facebook only for Marketplace when I want to buy something.

Probably too much at times, but usually only 9-5 Monday to Friday. As others have also said, I have a PH tab open on my computer while working, and I'll have a read of threads or reply to the odd post while I'm waiting for an email reply or having a 2 minute break at work.
I rarely look at PH outside these hours, or at weekends, or on holiday etc.
I don't post on Facebook anymore, don't read Facebook much unless I'm looking up a local business or whatever. I don't use Twitter, Reddit, Instagram (much), or any other forums.
PH is my one bit of 'social media' that I do actually still use regularly, but I find it very useful, and I've made some really good 'real life' contacts through it, and met some nice people. The quality of help and expert information that can be found from other posters is astonishing at times.
I get a bit sick of it at times though. Not the content, just the addiction bit that creeps in when you get used to automatically looking at it for 5 days per week. I might just try to bin it off for a month or so here and there and see what happens.
