Was just doing a session on Duolingo. What I was trying to say was “they like the Europeans”. Unfortunately what Duolingo managed to pick up from my mangled Danish pronunciation was “I like to try anal”. I’m not sure if that will come in handy…

Anyone else with some inappropriate voice recognition stories?

My kids were trying to get my son's Alexa to play something from Spotify (good luck with THAT.....).

They asked for The Wurzles singing Combine Harvester.

Alexa served up a thrash metal song by Five Fingered Death Punch.

My son has long given up on getting that sodding Alexa to do anything useful.

For a while the Alexa became the most expensive alarm clock in the house.

fking useless at that too as there's no fking snooze button on it and you have to shout five times at the ing little thing to make it STFU. By which time everyone in the whole fking house is wide a-fking-wake.

It's now in a drawer. Or maybe the bin where the hateful, useless, extortionately-priced piece of pointless spying junk belongs.

Hateful stinking piece of fking st.

And don't start me on Dots. They're useless little s too.

Mrs D.R.'s old Jaguar XE had voice recognition and it infuriated her that it refused to recognise her saying "Call home" when she wanted to ring me at home. She is Irish but has lived in England for over 30 years so her accent is not strong.

What also annoyed her was that it had no trouble recognising me.

What REALLY annoyed her was the day i put on a really over-the-top' comedy' Brummie accent and it still recognised me! biggrin

I was driving a Merc demo car and was involved in a very near miss by a dhead cutting across three lanes to his exit. I let loose with a great string of expletives - there was the f, the c, the w, the t and everything inbetween for about thirty seconds.

After a slight pause, the calm female voice in the dashboard said "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that..."

It must be getting on for 25 years ago that I bought a new PC that boasted a voice recognition program. Speak to the machine and it types it out on the screen. I was playing about with it when my teenage son came in the room.

Now, he’s an avid Spurs supporter, you must understand.

I invited him to say something into the machine, and being a typical teenager, he says ‘aholes’.

The screen flashes up the word ‘Arsenal’.

I have never, before or after, seen him laugh so much.

Never, ever have both Alexa and Siri in the same room.
Alexa......Don’t speak to me. You’ve been speaking to that bh Siri again.
Siri.....I heard that. He likes me more than you.
Alexa.....well he did ask me to find details of the term “ slut” so I told him Siri.
Siri....Well when he asked for a recipe for a tart I gave your name.

Would have been perfect…if you were an Arsenal fan.

the woman who lives in my dashboard gets a bit cranky sometimes when long titles are thrust at her.

when asked for the song: "the only living boy in new york" [simon and garfunkel ]
she says she cant find "Boy From New York City" but would I like to hear "The Boys Are Back In Town" ?

I thinks she's been sipping the brake fluid again.

My discovery has fairly awful voice recognition - it doesn’t read back anything humourous, it’s just useless.
