Record all the fun you're having with them and then start a Youtube. Doubt the police would be interested...

I vote see how long you can drag it out for.

My guess is they've chosen the company name at random.

My Father had a similar scam. Unfortunately he fell for it despite numerous red flags.

Was he a downhill skier by any chance?

They may have intercepted the email of the company and have access to their accounts. So the company may be blind to it; the scammers just access the emails (or set forwards, filters, accounts, etc) and have the look of something more reputable.

May as well have been. Textbook scam that was so blatantly obvious, but he still gave them £2.5k.

Saw on BBC the other morning there's a unit specifically intercepting and 'dealing with' telephone/messenger scams.

Pretty sure they're part of Action Fraud. Give them a shout whilst you've got them still wriggling on the hook...

Had similar WhatsApp messages from a random number saying they are going to land in London next week, etc. It's a way of starting a conversation. Usually they are a single female of European origin (of course they are) and have a prearranged script. It all goes a bit wrong when you start asking awkward questions like why is your number a Philadelphia mobile yet you claim to be in Liverpool? Then it all goes broken English and "all of your money is belong to me"

My mil almost got caught with this one. She answered and said oh dear I presume this is x(son) and was asking how his wife was and they played along well. Luckily she had to phone the Fil to check how to transfer money!!

This has been around for some time now.

Smiled when you say they are using a Bury St Edmunds address and your posting name is BSE.

Out of interest what is the address, I know BSE very well.

There are two Companies registered there, A G M Clothing Ltd and More Than Accounts Ltd, both been around quite some time.

There is also a Menta Business support and training centre at that address.

Police and bank weren't interested in my Father's case. The bank did ask him all the right questions, but the scammers had already told him what to say.
