If money was no object, like Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk levels, what stupid ideas do you have that you'd do for fun?

Not talking about buying a Lamborghini or coke'n'hookers, but just fun things that you wouldn't mind (necessarily) losing money on.

I was driving past this place the other day and it's currently empty and for let:

Imagine turning that into a paintball place, or ripping out the insides and making a multi-level kart track. Whack a really nice cafe for the parents in there and job done.

Affordable therapy/relaxation place because people on £20k a year also need massages etc.

In reality, hard to really make a living if you'd only charge say £20 a session.

That's actually a much more sensible response than anything I was expecting clap

Buy and manage property to let, available to those on low incomes at massively subsidised rates to allow them to save for a house/look after kids etc.

Would only need to make enough to cover costs, the property values would be the 'money in the bank' for later dates.

Every time I'm inside a large warehouse:

I always imagine building an estate of private houses, complete with gardens, and a pub etc inside.

I'd replace the lights with sunlamps and paint the roof white and blue and then sell the houses on the pretext the weather is always perfect at home.

Hell, if I had Elon Musk money I'd be all about nudging global poverty, even if it would only make a small difference. And I'd carve off a chunk to go to space, just because.

I know someone who's sneakily built a house inside a barn on their parents' farm ... no PP, of course. rolleyes

There are so many large buildings that are empty. There is a way to solve almost all homelessness.

Smart Cars. biggrin

I had this idea that a family of 4 could have 2 Smart Cars to get to work etc. But when you need to go somewhere as a family unit, you just link/connect them together a la train carriage. You could put the kids in the rear Smart Car and have them isolated from you much like a taxi partition. For Eco purposes only the front Smart Car would use it's engine, and when you need power, the rear one could fire up to provide assistance. And when you get to a car park, you only need one space. Or if there are more of you, you could link say 4 Smart Cars together, centipede/convoy style, with the front and rear Smart providing engine power.

I've often thought that too. But imagine the policing it would need, and how would you feed people - soup kitchens?

Fund the monster raving loony party to the maximum legal level. Not (just) to make a political point but to see wtf they would actually do if elected.

A political party that had the interest of hard working people and the country at their hearts, rather than self cantered nonsense we have now.

Well, it's not a business that would actually make a profit otherwise I'd already be doing it!

If i had Elon Musk levels of money
Create a bereavement fund for families of RNLI members, so that mortgages could be paid off or kids could go through university etc

Fund a network of flying vehicles for personal transportation, the Jetson One is a start but imagine being able to fly your car to work? That would be pretty cool

Cross post from the "What to do with £195,707,000.00?" thread.

I'd recruit a group of individuals with very specialist skills like computer hacking, confidence tricksters, sleight of hand, surveillance experts etc and assemble an "A-Team" who would be available, free of charge, to take revenge for those who have been seriously wronged and didn't get justice.

Few discreet ads in backs of magazines, the odd cold call here and there but basically seek out people who need help and then we'd devise some elaborate scheme to help them get revenge, but in totally legal ways - think public humiliation on a grand scale. There would obviously be the odd bit of sausage hammering (perhaps that could be our calling card?) and maybe some of the other PH tropes like throwing cans of red bull.

I haven't worked out all the details yet but it would help to pass the time anyway.

Oh and we'd obviously have a secret underground HQ (possibly island based?) and some cool outfits.

Personal flying transportation for the masses will never ever happen, unless aggressively controlled by AI.

If you look at the accident rates and examples of poor driving when people are only allowed to travel in 2D, you can't ever imagine 3D travel being allowed.
