When is the first week of septermber 22?

Is it next week (week commencing 29th August) or the following week?

my rule of thumb is if there's a working day (Mon-Fri) that the 1st lands on... that counts as the "1st" week

The first week of September is from 00.01 on Thursday September 1st to 23.59 on Wednesday 7th September. I have avoided using the term midnight because that can cause confusion and misunderstang which sometimes leads to arguments.

Officially, the first week of the year is the one that contains the first Thursday of the year. So If the 1st January is on a Thursday, the first week of the year starts on Monday 29 December.

So following that logic, the first week of September starts on 29 August this year

To me "first week of Sept" = first seven days of the month, so 1st - 7th; it has nothing to do with what days the dates happen to fall on a calendar.

Use week numbers if you want to talk about what time period starts on a Monday.

Absolutely Narrow down the choices so the phrase "first week of..." is never used as it's vague and confusing. Along with "let's meet bi-monthly".

Next weekend is clearly not this weekend so it must be the one following.

Surely the answer is the same fir any month, not just September It's fairly rare that the 1st of the month lands on a Monday (or Sunday, depending on which day you consider is the first of the week )

Or are you counting weeks as just 7 day periods, in which case the first week would be 1st thru 7th of the month (any month). Regardless of what actual days they fall on. This works if you have some odd need to work to a number week in a month period. But considering pretty much the entire world uses Monday to Sunday as a defined week period, it is normally the month that would have to confirm to the week when talking about "weeks", not the other way round.
