Older people are often more comfortable “in their own skin” as they say.
That's because there is more room! Not keen on the dining alone thing though. I am down your way for Jazz on the Pantiles next week and will meet with some of my friends down there. I've done it alone but I prefer company.
i am comfortable with solitude but i know lots of people who need the companionship, horses for courses i suppose.
I'm not saying i avoid contact with other people, i'm happy to talk to complete strangers when away with the caravan or out and about with the misses and part of my role at work means i have to interact with strangers, i've had a twenty minute conversation with some random guy about flying my drone and the rules and regs of what i can and cannot do when flying it but if i'm on my own, i have no problem with that at all.

No, and I'm in the same boat. I've given it some.thought and just accepted it. I like my own company. I used to worry that I was a bit abnormal that we don't have loads of friends over for bbq's weekend after weekendlike some we know. My wife is similar.
As long as you are happy, that's the important bit.

How do you feel? Are you happy? Deep questions for a forum I know but if you don't feel right I would encourage you to make an appointment with your GP.
It could be nothing to worry about. I have a good friend in his 60's who happily goes out to the pub on his own, out for breakfast, lunch etc. However he still does socialise with friends on occasion.
I am late 30's and while comfortable with my own company the opportunity comes around rarely due to kids and family life. I can see myself doing things more on my own when I am older but I do still enjoy catching up with friends and family.

I love doing stuff on my own, today I changed 2 motorbike engines…happy as Larry.
I think there needs to be a balance though, I spent 3 nights / 4 days away with wife and daughter in our horse lorry camper last week and had a brilliant time meeting new friends and helping other people do stuff.
It is likely that modern and busy lives have lost sole solitude and we need to seek out some quiet time too.

I was like this to a certain extent pre-covid & have got more so during & after.
There's nothing wrong with it as such. It doesn't sound like it's making you unhappy though, so while it may not be an issue for you, it may be a problem for others - if your wife is pointing it out.
You can't shut off all contact though, however tempting it may seem.
I'd check in with your brother though - the longer you leave it, the more difficult it will become to make the first move, unless you ceased contact for other reasons.
