Dog walk this morning and strolled by the Local Community Speedwatch boys. OH and I expressed the same feeling that we despise the idea of this but at the same time quite like that they do it; that actually, it's needed.

We expanded this to consider other things we dislike but actually quite like. Our list comprised:

Russel Brand
Coldplay
U2
Boris Johnson (from a non political perspective)
London

Without getting bogged down in the reasoning; what do you like and dislike equally?

Wine - tastes nice, makes you feel good for a bit. But makes me fat, and depressed, and anxious the next day.

I could of course drink less but where's the fun in that

Smoking - I used to love smoking in my 20s. Nothing nicer than having a pint and a smoke, or a smoke after dinner. For obvious reasons that had to stop because you know, it kills you. So I now hate it as it gives you cancer and only stupid people smoke - but I would still also love to do it.

Beyond the obvious answer that is spending time with family, I think work fits this category. I often dread it and hate the thought of it, but when I'm at work at actually enjoy it more than I think.

Agree with the speed watch perspective, I'm all for speed enforcement in villages and any 30mph limit, just not so much on NSL or motorways.

The C Class Sports Coupé. It's st... and ugly. And yet, based on my previous one (bought as I needed a car quickly), I bought another! I really like them but there's nothing good about them, not even the looks! It's such an awkward design. At best it looks like it's about to trip over itself. And that rear design is a mess.

Football hooligan films such as Football Factory and Green Street. I utterly detest football violence yet whenever there's a film on based on football hooliganism I can't help but watch it. The two mentioned above I've seen literally dozens of times.

Golf. There’s nothing better than a few hours out in fresh air getting pissed off that I don’t play often enough to be good at it.

Not Boris, I equally hate and hate the man.

I'm the same with the 'Essex Boys' type gangster films.

Very much this, makes getting what you want so easy and as much as I try and buy from an independent retailer whenever I want something quickly and KNOW it will arrive i still go back to Amazon.

I'm not a smoker and never have been, it's a pretty dumb habit. But for some strange reason I sometimes quite like the faint smell of cigarette smoke. Not great clouds of the stuff, but a little bit wafting on the breeze. Dunno why... confused

Im exactly the same, never smoked but like the smell of it. Our neighbour smokes in their garden and it wafts over.

biggrin

I don't even know why they have it. You don't have the offside rule in tennis. "He was standing in the tramline while his opponents were standing in the service boxes so that passing shot down the line doesn't count."

Schrödinger's Cat - I'm not a cat person, but I like it as a popular quantum mechanics thought experiment!

Joking apart: modern diesels. I love what they can return 50mpg in a decent size saloon car that can theoretically run for a few hundred thousand miles, but the borkage potential to get there with DPFs, DMFs, EGRs and Turbos that can expensively fail on the second or third owner makes me fear and therefore dislike them.

Justin Timberlake, every musical snobby bone in my body screams ‘Nooooooo!’ but the Lovestoned has me turning the volume up.

On a musical theme Limp Bizkit. Hardly my generation’s greatest musical contribution but I do rather like a bit of it. I am ashamed of myself.

Washing my car, boring and borderline pointless in the area I live as it gets dirty straight away.
However I love my car bring clean, and know car washes are bad for it, so I was my car twice a week.
Everyone thinks I enjoy doing it. I don’t.
