For me, currently it's razors and other shaving accoutrements . And G-shocks.

I have more razors than is sensible or could ever be needed, most of which are rarely used, yet I'm pulling my hair out waiting for yet another that appears to be stuck in customs so considering buying another to 'keep me going'. Same with brushes. Started out with a half-decent Simpson silvertip badger but somehow I now have more than a dozen - mostly inferior to my original. Don't get me started on soaps, splashes, aftershaves and balms.

Same with watches; used to be proper watches - started out with a few high street types, then onto nice watches and then luxury watches. Once I had owned and enjoyed my 'grail' watch I sold the 'worthwhile' ones and now I'm 'into' Casio G-Shocks. Much more affordable but one wasn't enough and I now have half a dozen.

Clearly more money than sense, but where does it end? I must be a sucker for marketing and FOMO, and a product of the modern world. I know better, but I still do it. Please tell me I'm not alone.

What do you collect/hoard irrationally?

I don’t collect or hoard anything and do not buy into the mass consumerism idea.

I have an older i phone no watches or jewellery as it doesn’t enhance my life despite having the funds available to indulge.

I prefer to invest my time and money on experiences for the family and invest for their future.

I appreciate some watches but apart from that my money goes back into the small farm I run. Been the case for the last 5 years or so.

All my clothes are from marks and Spencer or decathlon now apart from spending more on weather proof stuff.

Torches. 450+ pre-Covid.

Cleared out a lot of the middling ones, just keeping the oldest original LEDs, a couple of incandescent, and the latest ones. Now down to 70-80.

I was getting into torches but never ventured into anything that didn’t need aa / aaa as I knew it was game over

Never use them, always use phone torch

Strange thing I am

Never been much of a hoarder although I do have 2 or 3 OK watches and a small cuffIink collection dating back to my 20s and 30s which for me were my 'peak stuff' years. Only wear my modest Mondaine Swiss Railway watch now though. Cufflinks probably still worn monthly although I do much less formal dressing up for work these days.

The older I get the less of a carp I give about 'things' that don't serve a purpose. I like decent (not branded but good quality) clothes and shoes but only buy what I need. I spend pretty much all my fun money on bicycles, food and holidays now.

My parents both collected all kinds of pointless stuff so perhaps they inoculated me against the habit.

What's the criteria for all those torches?

Size, brightness, novelty shapes, colours?

450! Wow! laugh

Fair play!

That’s where I’ve got to. I used to buy things if I wanted them, now I need solid reasoning!

Renovating the house and having almost all of our stuff in storage for months has made me realise how little I actually need.

(Obviously the 4 motorbikes in the shed aren’t included in this, I’m kind of looking for a 5th)

Have owned 2 G-shocks for the last 20 years. Absolutely stonking watches that will take any amount of paggering.

I used to own an Omega Schumacher carbon fibre special edition, but strap broke whilst working on the side of a ship. Currently have a tag Heuer which is about 14 years old, but I never wear it. I prefer my Seiko auto for such times.

Recently bought a new Casio 'vintage' which was cheap, and to be honest, I like wearing the thing!

Casinos are nice. Not flash, but they are Ronseal.

My hobby of caving, mine exploring and in my younger days of urbexing. Criteria was the ever increasing trend for lumens, not only for exploring, but also light painting in photography. I have kept the following:

6 x old historic incandescent torches
6 x first ever LED torches on the market (which are feeble and very blue)
c.24 middling torches around 3-400 lumens each that I give out when giving tours in mines or a nuclear bunker (that I don't mind too much if dropped or not returned).
c.24 headlamps - ditto above
3 x headlamps fixed to helmets - Stenlight, El Speleo Lunatic and Scurion (helmets are called stinkies in the caving world and you don't lend them out!)

The rest are mainly torches and headlamps- Petzl Actiks/RLs, Olights, Nitecores, Imalents, Astrolux, Fenix which are mainly all around 4,000 lumens. The main reason for buying these is if they are rechargeable using 18650/21700 or 26650 batteries. One is 10,000 lumens but I've stopped chasing lumens because it''s got stupid and I don't need that much light in a small mine or bunker.

Probably a bit of a fiend for watches,

I did have two Omegas
Three G-Shocks
A Seiko Diver

A couple of family heirlooms on top.

I was only wearing one Omega occasionally and one G-Shock as a work watch.

I've since sold one of the Omegas, but I still have all the others,

I still keep eyeing up more watches and have added them to basket's on a few occasions

GShocks you say … yeah I was bitten by that bug too

Currently got the 17 here and my MTG is downstairs in sunlight charging itself

I keep thinking of selling some off but can’t bring myself to do it lol

I am doing the opposite. I used to keep almost every car magazine that I bought. However over the last few weeks I have come to the realisation that I will never re-read them ann have been putting a box in the recycling each week.

Other stuff that has not been touched for over 25 year gradually being dropped off at the charity shop.

I thought my torch fettish was bad but a quick count and I only have 21. Quite a lot are diving torches and video lights.

Fountain pens, I must have approaching 40 so far. I don't use them so much these days, arthritis has made my writing virtually illegible but I ordered two more yesterday, just because...

I forgot about video lights - so maybe add another 3 to the total! biggrin
