Today's a day that doesn't get enough recognition in the UK:

https://ukmensday.org.uk

As well as being a day of celebration, International Men’s Day is also a day to highlight the male suicide crisis.
Society's expectations and traditional gender stereotypes of men being strong and showing no “weakness” can be extremely damaging and potentially play a huge role in why men are more likely to stay silent and bottle up their emotions.
The narrative is changing but sadly not enough. According to data taken from the latest UK census, around three-quarters of registered suicide deaths in 2021 were males (4,129 deaths; 74.0%) which follows a consistent trend back to the mid-1990s.
If you or somebody you know is struggling Mentell provides free circles for men aged 18+ to talk (or just listen) in a safe and confidential space: https://www.mentell.org.uk

Loose Women was Loose Men today, discussing men's health. I still didn't watch it.

Maybe if the dudes who spend every IWD crying about misandry focused on themselves a bit International Men’s Day would be more well known.

Why do we need these ‘days’? All seems a bit stupid to me. Apart from national fish n chips day which falls on first Friday in June. Now that’s a day for my calendar smile

I remember Jess Phillips laughing when a politician, (I forget who), suggested using IMD to talk about men's suicide, etc.

'These days' are all about raising awareness but if they seem a bit stupid to you, that's OK. Enjoy your fish 'n' chips next June 2nd.

Just seen this and didn't know about it, but just got back from clay shooting with my grandson, had chips for lunch and went a bit quick on the motorway. So we had a good IMD

Just informed the wife it's IMD

Apparently it doesn't warrant a blow job.

I was talking about this to a friend the other day. Literally nobody gives a st. I've had several friends die in male dominated industries, as well as losing folks to male specific cancer and suicide. I'm all over women's rights, and spent years mentoring and tutoring young women and girls in leadership, confidence building etc but it seems to be a one way road these days. Sadly I can't see things changing.

Movember raises a huge amount of money (£65.4m last year), it also has a huge following and is well known by both men and women.

Its a cause I've got quite involved in a few times, not just growing a tash and donating a few quid.

Those moaning that international mens day isn't very high profile, what did you do on the day to help raise awareness?

Without wanting to be adversarial, £65M is a drop in the ocean compared to the total raised by race for life etc, and in all honesty, donating a couple of quid to a bloke with a silly moustache is often tokenistic without recognising the motives behind it.
Personally, I support a few guys all year round, emotionally and financially as much as I can. Your post reminds me that I think there's a PH tache thread somewhere, so I'll quietly leave that point....
