Ridiculous fees and charges
Discussion
Doing a bit of christmas shopping and picking up a Console for middle boy.
quick online search job done and then note
GAME - £9.99 for delivery aha you have a collect in store option also £9.99
so £9.99 to have it possibly delivered to my door or offed by a courier or £9.99 for the privelige of picking one up from a store you no doubt have them sitting on the shelf in.

Place order, go to shop, ask if they have any in stock. If so buy that one and when you get home cancel the other order.
That's what I would do.
Ring the shop in advance? If they've got a handful in, the likelihood is they'll have one in an hour when you arrive. That's what I would do.
I agree that £9.99 is a bit rich to collect it from a shop where they'll be sending consoles and other products anyway. Free delivery is a major selling point for a lot of people though, even if the delivery cost is built into the price.
Just earlier, I went to order some sticky dot things from Amazon. Bostick ones came up for 10p per pack. Excellent, I'll order a few. They wanted 10p for the item and £2.99 delivery for each packet! It goes in an envelope in the post for crying out loud. I wouldn't have minded paying £2.99 for the lot but not for each one. With the cost of everything going up, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of delivery charges being added on now.

Presumably you don’t watch much live music - on two concert tickets which cost me £500 (not bought from reseller- online for an hour or so when they were released etc..) £18 ticketing fee and a £50admin fee was added. Tickets arrived via email…
This is the most annoying at the moment - I understand paying for the platform, but at least make it sensible for digital ticketing.Miserablegit said:

Lol, I love these, I remember back when you used to get posted real tickets, there was some kind of circa £7 postage charge, they would arrive in an envelope, not special delivery or anything, didn't need signing for, just a normal franked envelope!!HTP99 said:

They used to do this with camp bestival tickets and ticketmaster - and if you complained after the tix arrived, they'd refund the postage piece. It happened multiple years and the facebook group would remind people to reclaim the postage every time. I'm pretty sure they knew exactly what they were doing and expecting only a small percentage of folks to complain - robbing b***sI'm surprised some of the train companies haven't split the 'carriage', 'seating', 'luggage' parts of the trip up yet.
Pay £250 and have the privilege of standing all the way to London, or pay an extra £50 for a guaranteed, allocated seat, with priority boarding, and only £5 extra per bag...and no, you can't pay the lower amount and take the gamble that there'll be an empty seat for you!

£2.99 isn't really excessive, though I fully agree they should stick them all in one envelope. But envelopes aren't free, and if it's more than 5mm thick then it's a large stamp which is £1.05 even for Second Class. Someone has to check the stock picking, print an invoice, insert it and your items, stamp it, and finally post it. It's only a few minutes per order but it adds up, and it's all work someone needs to be paid for.

You are paying for someone to pick it in the store, take it to the collection point and also for the admin and staffing of that collection system and station.
We purchased a car from the local Hyundai dealer second hand, let’s say the car had a screen price of 10000
Buy the time we had got to pay there was about 750 added on for all sorts of bs, admin charge, preparation charge (it was never prepared), admin charge for taxing it, delivery charge (it was already on site, we were collecting) a charge for new physical plates, all sorts of mad stuff
They eventually dropped it, but they were robbing little scammy rats who were essentially attracting you in with the prices then adding stuff on.
We then of course got offered the life time warranty magic paint stuff, tyre stuff, fuel treatments, interior treatment, x y z insurance.
It was literally an hour of saying no no no no no no, just sell em the car
Massive mistake, car is great but every interaction with them takes numerous chase ups and visits before they do whatever the task is.

Fanatics they manage the Football clubs online sales.
Can’t collect the stuff in store so £4 delivery and they add a 99p handling fee.
Ordered last Friday and it’s not arrived yet. Last order went missing, The one before that was faulty but the restocking charge and cost to send back wasn’t worth it. Not being £6 out of pocket through no fault of my own.
