How would one go about finding out? No record on any bank statements/credit cards but the car is insured and showing on askmid.

Can't be the first person this has happened to.

Presumably you’ve checked and double checked your email around renewal time to see if you can find the policy / schedule / link to the docs.

I had this with house insurance once - I knew I’d done it but couldn’t for the life of me figure out who it was. I found it eventually in my gmail. It helped to know the month to search as it turns out I get a lot of emails with the word insurance in them !

Dont forget to check junk email.

Must be payment record somewhere surely? He can't have paid cash to the insurance company?

The problem is that the name of company to who you pay the money to bares zero resemblance to the name of the company you took the insurance out with.

Yeah but you should have a rough Idea how much it is, and know that it isn't visa, or the takeaway. There can't be many transactions that you can filter out surely.

I'd start with a search of my email inboxes for "insurance", and just look for confirmation emails around the right date. Unless you managed to do it purely via phone/post?
