I did look for an 'Antiques & Curios' type forum but couldn't find one.

So apologies if I've overlooked and feel free to move it, however...

...A friend of mine brought these up in conversation asking if I had any idea what they were and where from.

There are two identical items stowed in what appears to be a canvas pouch. They seem to be extremely well made.

The long and the short of it is that none of us really know although we could hazard a guess. We haven't found anything on Google about or resembling them either.

So I suggested I put a pic/post on here to see if the PH collective intellect can shed some light...

...So, over to you!

TIA

Any markings on the rear or inside the flap of the pouch? Strange looking contraptions.
Edit - looked again and no markings on the inside of the puch.

That was our initial thought but they're about 80cm long when unfolded and they'd shape them flat.

Funny you should say that. Just after I posted this I noticed what could be the remnants of a motif on the pouch but it's too worn to make out what it might've been.

That's kind'a where I'm at with them but can't find anything to support the theory.

They will if you have the stand/tripod to screw onto the end (on the right hand side of the pic).

It was my immediate thought, designed as a travel accessory to take the crease out of a folded pair of trousers once taken out of a suitcase maybe..?

Whatever they are they look very well made, even down to the sliding mechanism that locks the hinge.

Some sort of measuring or cleaning device for pipes?
I’m going to say something to do with an organ or other musical instrument.

Google was clearly wrong regarding them being skis.

They're scissors, according to thumbsnap if you click/tap to open the image. hehe

See what you can cut with them, OP.

Is what I have circled threaded?
As it looks like it should fit onto something from its shape.
It does look a bit like a music stand but there looks like no lip or clips to hold the music.
