Yes,
It sounds crazy, but for as long as I can remember, well over a decade, I've been addicted to Diet Cola, and when I say addicted I mean addicted. I've previously smoked, drank too much and had a bit of a habit for Cocaine and MDMA, but they were all far easier to 'kick'.
If I didn't drink about a litre of the stuff (Pepsi Max being my tipple, and the choice of the hardcore 'Pop heads') by 9am I'd get a blinding headache that no supermarket pain killer could touch and by lunchtime I'd have stomach cramps and unable to concentrate or sometimes hold a conversation. My average intake was about 4 litres a day but could be higher. I have tried it least a dozen times to quit.
This time it's going well, I've had to wean myself off, I'm down to 500ml a day now, midday, but from Monday I'm stopping all together. I'm not quitting caffeine per se, but switching to the more socially acceptable, far cheaper and less ruinous for your teeth Tea, from an addiction point of view it feels about a hard a hit as paracetamol does to a coke head, but it's what I've got.
