From what I gather we know Muhammad was a real person as was David from the Jewish faith but Jesus I am. It so sure and I think the issue is the holy trinity where the man was also God. But belief in God (or gods) aside do people think Jesus was a real person.

My take is I always assumed he was but like all other religious figures was essentially making stuff up (likely he really believed there was a diety etc). But what do you guys think was Joe of Gailey a real chap of like the books just made up 400 years after the events they depict

Indeed he was real. Drove a Honda too, but he didn't talk about it.

I imagine there was a real person, but all the virgin birth and Holy trinity stuff was made up 300 years later to make the organized church necessary.

Im sure there is truth in the story somewhere but some religious anto roman crazy who could talk a good game down the market or pub is probably closer to the truth.
He was probably autistic or such like.

Other option is a visiting alien with fancy technology.

I have read that before. Re thr crucifixion do we know it happened and when etc. All seems like it would make a great story but yeah makes you wonder if he was a real person who was he. Was he just the L Ron Hubbard of his time

I'm sure a figure like Jesus existed but from what I understand there's nothing written (that we know of) that is actually contemporaneous, so it's all a bit nebulous from a truly historical perspective.

Doesn't seem a huge stretch to accept there was a hippy looking carpenter knocking about 2000 years ago, lobbing general truths about inbetween bouts of chippying. The weirder thing is how his story got written up by various cave dwelling, semi literate goat herds & survived the proceeding millenia.

About 400 years later the Catholic Church collated all of the gospels (stories if you will). Decided which bits to keep (gospel) which bits to discard (hersey)

Did the guy exist? - Yes, it's pretty widely accepted this man lived and died. Was he the son of god? (or just a very naughty boy) - That's where the "faith" bit comes in as everything written about his miracles is from many many years later having been passed down and embellished over centuries.

Still, make you wonder. If people were still talking about this guy that many years after his death he clearly has an impact in some way......

Shame nobody thought to keep any of the stuff that he made at the time.

A coat rack or a TV cabinet made by Jesus would be worth a fortune on eBay

Yes he did, but he was just a normal dude who was a confidence trickster.

Jesus is alive and well and works in our Argentinean office. Now and then I think 'what would Jesus do? and then call him and ask for advice. He is so forgiving he never even corrects my pronunciation of his name.

I always thought "yeah right" when people talked about a Virgin bearing the child...even when I was very young.

If he did exist I suspect he was a self promoting influencer.

He lives in Seattle.

Seriously, he lives in Seattle.

I was in the post office the other day and there was a package in the pile to be collected by the postie and there it was, a parcel addressed to just ‘Jesus’ at a private address in Seattle.

Clearly he likes coffee and rain.
