Every night for the last week or so, at least six drones are just hovering in the sky with flashing red and white lights. I don't know for sure they are drones, they are not that close but I can't think of anything else they would be.

I just find it weird. Any suggestions as to what they are doing?

Are you sure it's not cranes? Any large scale buildings works nearby?

Be prepared for SWAT to come crashing through your ceiling.

Quite big and noisy?

Possibly police. We've had a few floating around here late at night.

Cheaper than a chopper.

Buy an air rifle with a scope. Shoot one down. You will soon find the owner when they beat on your door.

That crossed my mind, although they are too far away.

What I don't get is that the don't fly around very much. They will stay hovering in one spot. I can't hear them and can't gauge the size, my guess was Police.

I saw another two whilst I was driving across Ashdown Forest this evening as well.

if you don't know for sure they are drones then perhaps a frivolous purchase is in order? like buying some kind of 5,000+ lumen torch to shine on whatever it is?

And up in prison, very serious offence to do that. You can be charged with endangering an aircraft (the same as if you shot at an aeroplane) and face a prison sentence.

If you think they are drones then try one of drone scanning apps. Commercial / Enterprise drones will be broadcasting a remote ID.

A friend of mine lives in the Ashdown forest and I was at his house on Friday night. He has a good view over the forest and I noticed 4 or 5 red lights in the distance just hovering. Looked like they belonged to cranes / tall buildings but obviously there’s nothing actually like that out there. This was in the general direction of Duddleswell / Crowborough. I guess it could have been the training camp.

I live in Eason's Green / Halland/ Uckfield. Most of the drones appear to be in the direction of Lewes.

They are definitely not cranes. Too high in the sky, and they do move every so often.
