I can see there are a few on here who were crafted in 1952/3, Bigothunter, DickyC, et al.
What's it like? I've only a month to go before I start my 8th decade.

Not a serious question by the way

Age is only a number, providing your medication is suitable!

Depends on your situation, especially health wise.

Me too, 70 in April.
23 in my head
83 in my knees and back

Too much time spent on cold damp garage floor and driveways.
Used to be able to heave 3x2 paving about, 2x2 is more than enough now and thank heavens they stopped doing cement in cwt bags.

70 tomorrow, last of my generation, no children or relatives, getting very down about life to be honest.

I was gardening today and a passerby by stopped to talk, never seen him before, he had a Leica with him and we talked about cameras.

He was 87 and very active, I believe he was Heaven sent.

Don't forget to renew your driving licence.
Also you now qualify for a free shingles vaccination!

Through choice or just something that never happened?

Acutely aware of my vulnerability, 70 in a few weeks.
Dread the thought of having to swing a golf club like you see so many old buggers do it. Hanging on to my Z4 too, be a bad day when that goes.
Swear much more now, too.

Been there, done that.

It's just a NUMBER!! smile

I didn't 'feel' any different when I hit hit seven 'o'.
Still don't, almost three yrs on, and here's my Mrs (left) in the pool with almost the exact words I overheard her saying to her younger (sadly, now late) sis, before my 70th, to confirm it.

Life (like love) can be a breeze and sometimes it can be a bh, as the song goes, but age is nothing more than a 'number'.

Life is for 'living' and 'loving' regardless of that 'number'. Make the most of it. driving

Anyone tell you different, ignore them.

I've just turned 40, but have been an old man since childhood. Seeing my 75 year old mother hooning around in a bright yellow Jeep, attending U3A and generally having a hoot has made me understand there's not much to fear from getting older other than the creaky joints.
Happy birthday to those on the thread who've recently hit, or are about to his the milestone.

I used to say I found it was an interesting position to be in.
My next one is 76 but told age only matters if you are a cheese!

I feel like the youngster - only 68 this year. TBH, I sometimes look in the mirror and think "how old?", but most things still work as they should. Away in the motorhome at Easter and may take part in a tyro off road event just for fun ( till the red mist starts). A few more years till my wife retires and we can slip into garden centre lunches.

Beats the alternative though.
