When you met your wife?
Discussion
Focussed upon the typical person here, as in middle aged/old bloke..
I’d had many girlfriends @ 23. Some pretty wild, but that’s a different story. Met my current wife.. Karen in 1983.
Some better looking (don’t tell her
) But I knew she was the one straight away. From that first meet at a family party. Her cousin is my cousin, not blood relatives! She knew too, guess I was a fanny magnet back then, Poor lady…
No dating apps or similar b
ks!
First cinema date after, crushed her leg in the Spitfire door. One way to stop her running off.. Didn’t deter her.
Still punching above my weight.
How did you meet your better half?

20 years agoI worked in a DIY store. A girl walked in as I was sweeping the entrance floor, and I was mesmerised.
I went into the store area to tell the other lads about the stunner that was in the shop, and they all scuttled onto the shop floor to have a look (as you do when you are college age!)
One of the lads returned, somewhat angry. He proceeded to empty a bag of sand over me, explaining that the stunner was actually his sister.
He is now my brother in law!

Workplace.
Same here. We met at work, but didn't get together until both of us split with our respective partners about 8 years later (honestly!). I was all set to move back to where I grew up and we went out on a social evening with a few colleagues and the rest is history...26 years together now.Workplace.
I was 'groomed' at age 15 by a beautiful, catsuit wearing 18yo (it was 1991 after all...) whilst out clubbing to Candi Staton etc.
Through a series of random events I ended up marrying her 13 years later and we've recently celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary.
Bizarrely, we randomly bumped into my wife's best friend from back in our clubbing days in Tesco yesterday. She's 51 now. Like my wife. I felt very old indeed

I was at work talking to someone in their office when this woman walked passed. She was beautiful. I said to the person I was talking to who is that? She said he name and said she was out of my league. Nice.
Few weeks later she was working in my office. I was a bit of a dork and didn't talk her to much. Pre GDPR and all that s
t but we could look up people's mobiles on the system so I got her number and after about 2 hours of psyching myself up and a few vodkas phoned her and asked her out.
That was 17 years ago. Been married for 16 years this year.
It's funny how little changes change your life. I was really close to not calling her because I thought I would be rejected.

Clubbing. Not the aquatic mammalian kind.
Same except her and her mates were only in town for the summer just living it up almost nightly. Was just a summer thing... 15 years later this week we are happily married, in love and have a lovely little girl about to turn 2. I'm lucky too that I have a photograph of pretty much the first few moments where we met on the dance floor! My best mate at the time; Scott, was friends with her as they both lived in the same village, we kind of hung out together as a group, I guess starting at around aged 14 or 15, her dad was the village bobby, he knew my dad as he was in the police too.
I still to this day remember her saying to Scott, within earshot of me "I like your friend", pointing at me.
I'm 48 now, she's 49, we have 2 daughters, the eldest being 30 (started young lol), been married 13 years but together much more, we've had our ups and downs, however I love her at least as much as I did back then, she recently said to me that I still give her a tingly feeling when she sees me.
God how soppy!

I was dealing poker and my Wife (to be), came and sat on my table.
After 10+ years of working in hospitality, bars, nightclubs and then casinos, I’d had a significant number of girlfriends and intimate encounters, but I just knew there and then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with that girl.
Coming up on 21 years later, we’re still together.

At a Halloween party in erm about 2005, I think I had an unopened can of beer in one hand and an axe in the other. I turned to a random witch and said “I have a drinking problem. Can you hold my axe please?”
That's brilliant. I never had the gift for one liners, even if that one might have been a bit random it seems to have worked. To add a story on behalf of my sister: She was involved in a car accident and the guy who hit her car is now her husband. They've been married coming up 25 years now.
