Not sure how.

Quantum AI have got my number and they have phoned me 79 times since Tuesday morning. Yes, 79. Every call claims to be from a different number (all 07×××), so whilst I can report and block each one, it doesn't stop them calling again.

Presumably there's bugger all I can do except wait until they get bored?

Note: I answered just the first two of these calls and told both of them to fk off.

String them along, but only if you are free. Never get annoyed and string them along. Make it sound like you want the product/service and then give a made up card number that constantly declines. Then and only then tell them to FRO.

I had a loan company call from their Indian call centre. Made up all the details and they put the phone down on me. I told the agent that I would call them back 10 times for every time they called me - they called, I'd string them along, make up names and details, have them put the phone down. As it was a spoofed 01 number I called back with my free minutes every time I was bored, waiting for a train, sitting in the car park waiting for Vikingette1 to finish gym. One agent that I had spoken to about 20 times used to sigh when I said who I was and I said see, I'll call you back if you call me and I'll waste your time. Your choice to delete my number!

Would registering your numbers on TPS help?

It didn't in the past. Given they're not in the UK, I can't imagine it'll do any good. Until this week, I've not had a spam or scam call in as long as I can remember.

It doesn't. Most of them are not UK based, and even those that are use a spoofed number. TPS will stop legit companies contacting you, but it won't stop scammers. If you're registered with TPS and a 'legit' company calls you, there's a good chance it's actually a scam. I get calls from 'EE' about my mobile contract. I'm not with EE; I've never been with EE. But of course, some of the people they call will be EE customers, and will fall for it.

258 calls so far. Every one of them pretending to be from a different number. I've only answered two.

Best strategy is don't answer. By answering you're just confirming a live phone & inviting more. Easier said than done when numbers are spoofed but ifi it's someone genuine, odds are they'll leave a voicemail. In my experience, they get shutdown after a few weeks & then it all starts again. Forget the TPS, apart from being useless, you're being phoned by people who are quite possibly abroad & couldn't give a toss about the law anyway.

I'm renaming you to vikinghero in my mind.

I guess your thing only works if it's not really a scam but just annoying. I get a lot of messages and emails from genuine businesses pitching their services at me. I just ignore it, it mostly goes into spam. There are also B&Q and Argos fake competition and order messages that have clickable images. I guess because even just having the image load up in my email software results in a positive hit, they continue doing it. I can't imagine what utter thick s fall for it that make spamming/scamming worth their while. If these were all genuine, I'd have about 50 B&Q barbeque units in my garden by now.

Just came in to my spam.

Scam calls are great whilst you're in bed. Simply answer, mute the microphone and nod off. They do eventually hang up.

A waste of hard-earned battery charge to leave them ringing / on vibrate.

TPS does nothing unfortunately.

But stringing them along does. I got my number off one of those annoying lists by wasting an inordinate amount of their time. You can usually spot the numbers even though they are different every time and just answer when you want to blow off some steam. It's quite liberating being able to say literally anything to them without feeling guilty or any retribution. Think of it as a service.

I found the reverse was true. When I retired I used to get scam calls regularly during the day, so with time on my hands I just strung them along for as long as I could.

Within a few weeks the calls all but stopped. It's now so infrequent I can't remember the last scam call I got.

Same, I love it when I've got nothing better to do.

Last week i was asked if I could answer some questions. I said, I'm flying at the moment but it's ok because I can pull over. She wasn't keen but I said it was fine and the passengers can wait. I reiterated that I was flying multiple times.
Eventually I said my passengers were getting agitated and I had to keep flying.
The lady eventually twigged and hung up.

One of my favourites was the personal injury claim for the car crash, where my wife t-boned my metro 6r4 while driving her yellow lotus f1 car trying to get through the chicane first. She broke my little wing mirror off and cracked the skirt. I stretched this over 3 nights because he barely spoke English and didn't have the sense to realise it was a scalextric set. Location of accident my living room in front of the fire. I'd run him for about 10 minutes then ask him to call back tomorrow as I had to go. 3 nights then never heard from him again (presumably when an English speaking supervising scumbag listened to the transcripts).
