If you could live anywhere in the UK

I’m 37 have a lovely house up in the Wirral, good job but I have an itch to relocate and try something new.

If you could live anywhere in the UK where would it be?

For me, it’s either Pitlochry after some lovely breaks there or Somerset around the Wells area.

I like the Northumberland coast and the Scottish borders.

There is a house/farm at the foot of Scafell Pike next to the lake. I should like to live there please.

I'm happy where I am.

Cadwell, Oulton, Mallory and Donington all within 75 miles, I can walk to a mainline station, local shops within an easy stroll, five supermarkets within a mile, doctor and dentist a walkable distance away, local hospital two miles, three more hospitals within 12 miles, some great driving roads a 15 minute drive away.

I can't think of anywhere else that I'd rather be apart from in a detached house with a triple garage and larger garden in the same town.

Probably a nice big house in the highlands with a nice big workshop etc. Plenty of space for the dogs, few miles from the nearest village/town which would have a pub.

I live on the edge of Northumberland / Newcastle and its pretty good location wise
- Coast is 5mins from my door
- Central Northumberland 45mins away
- Scottish border on the east is 1hr / west is about 45mins
- Reasonable airport links (NCL is 10mins from my house / EDI is 80-90mins / GLA and MAN are 2-2/5hrs)
- East coast mainline trains, apex of the A1 and A19 to head south
- Properties are reasonable for large, decent homes in nice areas
- Crime isn't particularly apparent
- Abundance of Greggs stores ()

London. For all the wonderful parts of the UK that I have been to on holidays I could never live in any of them full time. London for all its disadvantages represents for me the best balance between fabulous open spaces like Hampstead Heath, Hyde Park and Regents Park (to name 3), restaurants, theatres, things to do for adults and kids, schools and easy access to international travel anywhere in the world. It ain't perfect, it's not for everyone but for me I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the UK.

Parts of Scotland, Inverie or around Fort William. Even over on the East, parts of Speyside.

Or, rural Suffolk.

Nb: Scotland but not while the SNP are anywhere near the levers of power.

Brighton & Hove.

Nice city by the sea, South Downs and lovely Sussex countryside, good train services (but poor roads).

Very happy on the south coast in Dorset. Gets a bit crowded in summer (easy enough to avoid the crowds if you know where to go though). Great kayaking, walking and mountain biking etc, good pubs, decent restaurants. Perfect.

Sadly there is no work there so will have to wait a while!

For me I made the move 11 years ago from Fleet to the Shropshire North Wales border. Lovely place to live, Hardly any people, Great access to Snowdonia or the Shropshire hills. Close enough to Manchester or Birmingham if you must visit a city. Has its disadvantages though, because there are fewer people you end up having to travel if you want to do some stuff, like shopping or cinemas.

TBF if you're the sort of person who gets a nosebleed when they get past the M25 London parks probably look like open spaces.
