Just commented to Mrs MEC that you dont really see these anymore? Is it just around Yorkshire they seem to have vanished or is it countrywide? Any reason for it?

Used to love the sickie feeling of being stuffed with strawbs while having a fridge full of the bl**dy things!

Was on TV a couple of weeks ago that the strawberry crop for PYO was poor this year due to weather - may have been on Landward, Scotland TV

Looking around the Midlands there were only a very few and cheapest PYO was £7/kg.

Aldi British strawberries are less than £5/kg.

I'm not paying more to pick them myself!

Back home (East Yorkshire) there used to be a place which was massive, acres and acres of them. Got ripped up in the end because even though it was busy it didn't make any money.
