Hopefully this is in the relevant section......

I'm after recommendations for a pair of waterproof trousers to wear whilst walking the dog, and also watching my kids play grassroots football.

I don't really want an over trouser, just something I can wear instead of jeans that will keep me dry. I've already got a Montane Gore-Tex jacket and Merrell Gore-Tex boots, so something that fits in with them will be ideal.

My budget is up to £150.

Can anyone recommend anything?

I was wondering similar a few weeks ago and decided to just wear shorts.
Skin dries pretty quick and I feel more comfortable.

I just wear over trousers, as the number of times I needed them seemed pointless spending lots of money.

Have a look at Rohan range. I have two pairs of their Dry District Chinos. Currently on sale for £52. Look up waterproof trousers in the main menu and they show as 60% off. They have lasted well over a few years. Great for golf! Used a couple of times a week in winter as they keep out the cold. They are my go-to for dog walking too. If warm weather then shorts and over-trousers added if heavy rain.
Be quick as the sale is about to end!

How do you find them in heavy rain?

They look great, but not sure about the colours that are left. If they'd have had a black or dark grey I would have definitely bought a pair for £52.

Fine, also fine walking through wet bushes getting the ball the dog missed. Gun dog indeed.

No good for heavy rain, the water runs down your leg and into your boots…

Keep an eye out for their sales. Good gear but not cheap until sale time when I tend to dip in. They have started a repair option as well. Several items are now several years old but still good.

Mountain warehouse normally have a decent selection. I got some water resistant trousers from them recently which were good quality and not expensive.

It’s good stuff and my youngest designs for them.

Look at the golf stores (you don't need to play golf!)

You can get some really light GoreTex ones for around your budget. A bit of a game changer for all sorts of poor weather walking in the winter.

Usually you can get a waterproof jacket as well but the trousers alone are the game changer.
