Glasses direct etc vs opticians?
Discussion
They’re ok if you have a standard prescription. I use them for a spare pair when travelling.
You’ll need to know your pupil distance, it’s not normally shown on your glasses prescription. You can measure it yourself using online videos.
Fit won’t be brilliant, a trained optician doing loads a day can easily get them to fit you well. Trying to do it yourself won’t be as good.
The cheapest prices are for the lenses without coatings and thick lenses though. It will cost you more for anti reflective/anti scratch and thinner lenses.

I have a pair of varifocals from Glasses Direct.
They got the lenses spot on at the first attempt - local optician needed two goes.
The frames aren't super high quality but fit perfectly - you can try 4 pairs at a time to foc.
They were half the price of the high st optician.
