Do you have a famous or even better, an infamous ancestor lurking in your family tree? Tell us about them!

Here's mine.

My Great Grandfather was Lord Mayor of Dublin around the turn of the twentieth century.

Can you out-ancestor me.........?

Can you????

My Dad's mother had the same family name as the last hangman in a jail, which we found out when we were sat in the now museum café under the sign recording the last hanging.

According to a popular book I am a direct descendant of a chap who lived in a really nice garden with his Mrs, She once made him eat an apple she had scrumped and it all went downhill from there because the owner of the tree she nicked it from was a bit cantankerous and history shows that they hold a grudge.

The wife is related to Sir Walter Raleigh. My father in law is a huge genealogy fan, and has mapped it all out.

My FiL has traced his family tree a long way back and includes a verified link to Robert Fitz Odo - aka the Earl of Loxley upon which it is thought the tale of Robin Hood is based.
