Anyone know of a supplier of good quality leather belts for jeans and general wear?

I'd like a really good quality leather, not bonded or 'genuine' leather, or plastic coated cr@p which eventually fail.

I've heard that Horween cordovan premium horse leather is really good, but not sure where to buy from.

Company called Elvis and Kresse rescue leather from places like Burberry and combine it with old London fire hoses. Perhaps not quite your brief but OH has two of their belts and zero sign of wear yet despite quite hard lives.

Found Hilfiger ones to be good, last an age too.

Currently around £70, think they were £50 when I last bought - feels reasonable value.

After a few shockers I bought a Levi’s belt which appears tough as you’ll ever need - single thick length of leather.

Maybe I should try this. I have two belts, one black and one brown. One will be worn nearly every day and they seem to last less than a year, so six months of wear.

I don't normally go for branded clothing but a plus one for Tommy Hilfiger belts. I was gifted one around 10 years ago and have worn it almost every day and it's only just broken near the buckle. Solid leather, no bonding etc on the one I have - I'm hoping to get it repaired.

I was gifted an Australian belt made by RM Williams some years ago

It's been straining every day for 6 years or so, still looks brand new. Very good quality.

I use Beltman, from Texas Alabama. When sizing, they ask whether you want to carry your holster inside or outside your belt

I’ve no experience of them but I was recommended these once https://hrothgarstibbon.co.uk/product-category/bel...

The last decent belt I bough was from Equus Leather but they went bust. I’ve a few belts from the 90’s that are still going strong and one of my Dad’s belts from the 70’s but most of the stuff in the main stores is rubbish these days. Don’t touch anything double sided.

Another option I haven’t tried but I do own a jacket from them and great customer service https://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/shop/accessori...

I do own a brass buckle belt and be aware they tarnish over time which you may or may not like. Grand for jeans.

I don’t need a new belt but I’m going to bookmark this thread for the future.

You shouldn’t be able to wear a belt with a suit

Of course you should be able to. If you don’t want suits to fade into costume and obsolescence that is. They’re well on their way there in many social situations. Most people’s suits come with belt loops. Most don’t wear suits for anything other than special occasions. Outside a few careers they’re now costume or ceremonial for weddings and funerals. Increase the barrier to entry out of a false sense of appropriateness and you’ll increase their irrelevance.

I like wearing a suit by the way and own a few with no belt loops. I could live my life without them but I don’t want to see their demise due to artificial rules set by a past hierarchy that I want no part of but some are in a weird enamour of.

Besides, if the suit fits you won’t see the trouser waist line. Amirite?

And breathe! wink. I didn’t rant too much there thankfully. I hope you were joking. I enjoyed typing that and was smiling as I did.

French calf leather?! Vegetable tanned sourced from Turks. Tuscany, Tuscany!

What’s wrong with good British dead cow?

Joking, they do look like good belts.

Blimey, they offer a variety of leathers including bison, shark and elephant hide!
