It's a beautiful day round my way today, so I trundled off into town around midday to get some supplies.

It's 30 degrees, so definitely 'hot' rather than 'a bit warm'

We have a local market place and, as I'm walking through it, I see:

One chap - at least in his fifties, dressed casually. He has on a pair of corduroys, shoes, a casual shirt and a spring/autumn coat.

One slightly elderly woman who has a wool cardigan on

One chap wearing a beanie (not covering his ears)

One young lad wearing jogging bottoms and matching hoodie.

Now, these people have a right to wear whatever they like but they must have been absolutely melting.

Does anyone on here follow a similar attire routine? Or know anyone who does?

Everyone I know is baking hot all the time so wears as little clothing as is appropriate for their task or destination. The only one I knew who would take a coat out in summer was my late grandmother, who was permanently cold or fearful of being cold smile

Our upstairs neighbour was out mowing his lawn when I got back from work around 3ish yesterday. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, a long sleeved top, a gilet and a beany hat!

I was dripping with sweat having walked from the car to the house in jeans and a t shirt (legs covered are a work requirement)

See it all the time in London.

37 degrees on the Bakerloo line and someone in a puffer jacket, zipped up.

I've noticed a few people like this. Full black tracksuit, the thick fleecy type, hoodie up and a beanie too. In the blazing sunshine. Strange.

I always keep an eye out for "overdressed" people when it's hot. Especially on days when it was pretty much guaranteed it was going to be hot right from the outset. I'm especially keen to spot overdressed people in black. Though my temperature goes up a bit just looking at them.

It is a strange one.

Usually old people or people used to warmer weather wearing jackets etc.

Maybe they are the alien infiltrators?

Anyone dressed like this I can only assume is carrying a knife or gun.

Young lad locally got a Canada Goose coat around April/May either in a sale or more likely it’s a snide. He never takes it off, we’ve had a few really hot days lately and he’s walking around with it zipped up and wearing a beanie.

Welcome.

If only.

Most of the youth I see are half naked showing off their home crafted tattoos on their milk white skeleton like torso.

Some people just don't feel the heat. Skinny ones particularly.

When I was young, if a room was hot I'd just think "hmm it's quite warm" and NFA was required. Now I am middle aged and... erm... more muscular I am stripping off immediately, before I start sweating.

I remember being in Central London in the summer of 2018 and seeing a guy walking down the street in a full on winter parka jacket which he had zipped up. not a bead of sweat on him either.

It's relative. When in Cuba on vacation this year, when it dropped down to 32C there were many people in jeans and hoodies on. With 90% humidity to go along with the heat.

Or kids off to school in winter, freezing cold or pissing with rain and they only wear a jumper over a shirt.

I went to Amalfi coast about 10 years ago in June and was amazed to see so many people walking around in jeans and puffer jackets - someone was actually wearing one that I own and makes me sweat in the winter, couldn’t believe it laugh saying that, I walked to the shops for some milk earlier and was dripping with sweat when I got back in shorts and a t shirt laugh

I'm see a fellow runner fairly regularly on my evening jaunts around the lanes. Yesterday, in temps of the high 20s, she was wearing her usual attire of leggings, running top, gilet, neck warmer and a cap. By the time we get to single-digits in the Autumn she'll be needing several puffer jackets to do her 5k.

This is a phenomenon that I first noticed last year during a visit to Disneyland Paris over the few days we had 40+°C temps. Just don't get it, but I did identify two sorts that certainly had more clothes on than average:

1. Overweight folk who were, presumably, trying to cover up. Same ones who wear T-shirts in the pool.

2. Young East Asian-looking girls. Hoodies and jeans, some with the hoods up. Crazy, but they seemed to be having a good time. rofl
