A lad who made my life a misery throughout Secondary School went down earlier this year for being part of a drugs gang. So it seemed he never changed his ways and is still an idiot to this day.

It got me thinking if karma always catches up to those who wronged you during your days at School ?

I went into a garage to buy petrol about 3 years after leaving School. I had a good job, a new company car and a fuel card . I was very young and had done pretty well for myself. In my car was a beautiful blonde ,who became and still is my wife . The person behind the till who I paid for the fuel was the School bully . He looked pretty pathetic that day from where I stood. I have to say it did not feel as good as I had expected, he really was quite pathetic in that moment.

On a scale from Heart Surgeon to dead from drugs at 30 the bullies I knew from school covered both extremes.

I doubt either of them gave their conduct & the effect of their actions a second thought.

I never saw the school bully (imagine Biff Tanner from Back to the Future, he looked like a grown man compared to 14 year old me) again from the day he left school at 16. From what I have heard he ended up owing some drug money to some very nasty people and had to leave town.

I haven't actually thought of him for nearly 35 years but decided to do a search on Facebook and I think I have found him. Apparently he now works as a "Ceiling Fixer" and his page is utterly chav and full of pictures of Gold chains and French Bulldogs.

So looks like he didn't amount to much surprise, surprise. He still looks like a fking psycho though.

He certainly did come a long way from giving me the odd slap in school.

Just checked the name of a local bully/scrote from the street I grew up on and found two separate articles about him being sent to prison.

I don't believe every school bully grew up to be an adult bully or loser. I'm sure some did but for many it will have been a phase they grew out of. Same applies for the shoplifter, nerds, wimps or sporty kids

Karma is the only belief system I (sort of) buy into in the realm of human existence.

I hardly know of any good people who’ve ended up having crappy lives, but I know quite a few aholes who’ve got exactly what they deserved.

Reckon it’s probably an 80/20 split, which is odds I’d take all day.

No, get over it you big pussy.

Or else!

On a serious note. How is him being caught and going to prison karma? He's a career criminal by the sounds of it and it won't be the last time he gets banged up. All part of the job.

He's probably got more money than you.

When I was in Primary School the bully was always backed up by a hulking great numbskull; they were a pair.

But then in High School his big buddy had moved to a different area and so the bully was alone…and he was quickly out-grown by most of those he bullied.

He ended up being a really nice guy actually, quiet and reserved.

Luckily I never had much of a problem on the wrong end of bullying. A few spats here and there, but of the bullies I knew about, yeah most of them fked their adult lives up too.

A few grew out of it, I actually became half decent mates with a couple of them. One has gone on to have a really good respected career.

But the other 4 or 5 haven't. A couple of them did time, and one actually killed himself a few years ago after a life of drugs and alcohol, sad really as I know he'd had a rough childhood of his own and just used to take it out on everyone around him. He was actually a nice lad behind the false bravado.

Never bullied at school, but did work with a Depot Manager once in Northern Ireland who was a really nasty bigot. If you weren't a fifth generation Orangeman then you were scum. Not even being from this hemisphere was like catnip to him. Absolutely hateful man who made my life hell whilst just staying within the bounds of not getting reported.
One day he didn't come into work, or the next week. Turns out he'd slipped in the shower and badly injured his back. To the point where he could barely walk. Never did come back to work. I have to say there are few people I can say I've hated, but he was one of them. Tom McGarrell I hope you're still in pain.

I’m aware of one who died, I think from heroin overdose, at a young age (20s I think). A quick Google suggests that for another one things might not have gone well either, a news item from last year about a recent drug related conviction with a string of previous mentioned.

Sad all round really, although I’m afraid it’s hard to feel any sympathy from my side…

Problem is in that case he probably went around as the big "I am" up until his arrest, and on his arrest is now some sort of hero who will do well inside.

So no, unfortunately Karma probably hasn't got him.

Surely most bullying is rooting in bad parenting and poor life choices. The idea that bullies are therefore more likely to live less productive lives, while perpetuating the cycle seems a likely outcome.
In many ways, you might actually think that the bullies are the ones that need help and support.

I know, bloody bleeding heart liberal and all that, and it won't feel like that to the victim etc. But long term solutions require long term thinking. See also drug dependence, benefit scroungers, and many other forms of anti social behaviour.

The only two, from school, I ever found out about later in life, one was killed in prison, the other stabbed by another scrote and died, out of prison. Not that I wish death on anyone, but I can't say I was concerned.
