Did her husband actually do anything famous enough to warrant so much coverage of his battle with illness?
Probably not, but he was pretty infamous as a political advisor to the Labour party.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7995634.stm
I hope he recovers from his recent major heart attack, party politics is nothing while family (Kate/Derek) and health are everything.

It's been thrown up on the BBC for me.
Right side says It's sad about the situation but left side says I'd be happy to help out if she's a little you know lacking in certain activities :
To find it on the BBC front page you have to go down to "most read articles". Like when someone else on PH had a dig at the BBC for telling us about something a few days ago.Right side says It's sad about the situation but left side says I'd be happy to help out if she's a little you know lacking in certain activities :

Seems like every turn up/down she is in the press notifying us all which is getting a bit OTT to me.
Or am I the only one here?
I'm with you. I basically don't care. In that I have a limited amount of bandwidth per day. And I'm not filling it with stuff that's of no consequence to me, my life or those I care about. Lots of people get ill. 1500 people die every day in the UK. And some of them will be good people.Seems like every turn up/down she is in the press notifying us all which is getting a bit OTT to me.

The problem is that the media/news industry is incestuous and self absorbed. So what matters a lot to them is irrelevant to most of us, but they have the power to bring their lives to us via 24/7 streaming news. And so long as the public don't turn off in any great numbers they will continue to pump out their dirge. Whilst actual important things are ignored.
About half way though 2020 I made a conscious decision not to watch the news for more than 3 mins a day. Some days I don't watch at all. I definitely feel happier in general avoiding the misery porn they feel the need to broadcast

while i do feel for both of them, it does smell abit of a z list celeb milking any situation, as does katie price.
but i may be wrong, and hope i am
I don't watch anything with Kate Garraway in it but I'd strongly argue that neither her nor Katie Price are Z-list. They are both very well known people.but i may be wrong, and hope i am
