First world problems & all that but the telly chose a bit of a choice day to break. Suppose we'll have to talk to each other or something. Anyone to up the ante?

My SiLs oven broke on Saturday.

Hob still works, grill still works. Ovens dead. BiL was talking about firing up the BBQ!

Perfect timing! Dowh!

Elder lady neighbour’s glass shower enclosure decided to randomly shatter yesterday, fortunately she wasn’t in it at the time.

A few years ago while my family were opening presents the dishwasher seal failed and flooded the kitchen.

This year for me? So far so good…

I’m at sea.

Not a disaster as such, but would much prefer to be home.

MiL is 69 years old and still grafting away in the local primary school for her 40th year. She’s been putting off seeing the doctor for the last few weeks cos of a cough because ‘I need to go to work’

Today she pulled out of coming for dinner because ‘she wasn’t able’. Wife’s been back and forth 4 times today because she can barely breathe but is refusing to call an ambulance or come here to be looked after. rolleyes

For seven years I anonymously used to text my eldest’s best friend random coconut facts signing off Mama Macaron. I was eventually revealed a few years ago.
For Christmas I bought them a packet of Coconut Macaroon HobNobs from the late Mama Macaron. They’ve bought me a tin of Mushy Peas… some fancy Liberty stuff and a £200 Byredo perfume. I feel a failure as a Mother figure.

I consulted google maps about 7am this morning before my Bristol to Herts journey only for it to show the M4 shut for the two nearest junctions.

I sat swearing for a while planning an alternative route then zoomed the map out. It was showing major lengths of motorway closed on M5, M50, M6, M1, A1M and others - presumably something had been hacked.

I was very relieved to find the M4 was both open and had hardly any traffic.

Ended up in A&E yesterday as I had a sudden onset of vertigo and couldn’t even stand up! Vomited several times and sat in the hospital for 24hrs waiting to be seen!
Finally seen at 11am today to be given some tablets and sent home. I was supposed to be doing Xmas dinner which obviously hasn’t happened, so gave the turkey etc to my guests to cook. As if that isn’t enough, I walked into find the vertical radiator had broken free of its fixings and landed on my newly fitted (last wed) quartz island chipping it. As I’ve got Vertigo all I could do was look at it , gutted, and head to bed - just woke, and yep. Still spinning like im severely drunk.

Joy!

My wife shattered her ankle yesterday in a fall, was supposed to be operated on today and is now scheduled for tomorrow. We were supposed to be hosting all the family for lunch today and on Saturday spent several hundred pounds on food and drink for the event.

And just for good measure we were supposed to be going away to the lakes for new year and had dinner booked at Rogans.

In the 80s when I was a kid, my uncle and family came to ours for Christmas

He was a dog handler in the police, in those days they took the muts home

As they were here all day they dog came but was only allowed in the garden and kitchen

As expected it just did what it was told, keeping its self to its self

My mum went out after dinner to get the puddings, everything had been eaten

Not really a disaster but memorable

I got vertigo a couple of years ago and that was on Christmas Day too, it took me two weeks to shake it off and was the worst thing ever, only time I felt normal was when laying down.

Best of luck with it. I never really found a cause.

My brothers house burnt to the ground on Christmas Eve, he was relaxing in the next farmhouse having a small whisky toasting with the local fire service and constabulary when I eventually caught up with him, went up next morning to salvage but only the foundation left…

I had it a few years back and from memory it was something like an inner-ear infection. From what I remember there was medication they can give you, if you can see a doctor of course.
