Our local Tesco and Sainsbury's had Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs on the shelves on Boxing Day.

That's modern supermarkets, they've all got devoted seasonal isles.

They'll knock a hole in it in a few weeks to cram Valentines Day in for a week, then back to Easter, then Spring / Summer, then Back to School and before you know it, we're back to Xmas, with a slight pause for Halloween now that's become such a big thing.

If I owned a supermarket, I'd just drape tinsel over the Easter eggs and keep them out all year.

Some of the shops have got summer clothes for sale too - and it's still winter!

Very difficult to care too much about this. As far as I'm concerned, the more chocolate in the shops the better!

They’re in the depots and warehouses mid December. Generally on the shop floor after Xmas.

Easter eggs are bulky items but have a long shelf life. So they fill space, meaning less ‘the shelves are empty’ type stories creating panic, and it’s way easier to drip feed them from a logistics perspective

The only reason this annoys me is in my frazzled brain I've decided that Easter egg chocolate tastes better and so I start buying, and eating them now. By the time Easter comes I've had about 100 and my weight loss goals have gone to st.

Having said that looking at the price of them these days a crack cocaine habit might be cheaper.

I seem to recall that creme egg adverts on TV used to start around Jan 1st or 2nd, couldn't say if that is still the case.

I work for one of the major Chocolate manufacturers and we started shipping in Easter on the 1st week of December.

Sell barely any actual big eggs now, but sales of mini eggs, self eat style lines sell really well from day 1. Agree with one of the posters above, prices this year are insane on some products..

The best thing about mini eggs is that the ones sold in Aus are made in the UK, which means they aren’t the horrible high temperature resistant Australian chocolate.

The downside is they melt quite quickly.

The solution is to eat them all as soon as the packet is opened biggrin
