I’m looking to ship a set of wheels and tyres from the. rochester area to Nottingham. In the past I have used Sapphire Ridge (SR Transit) but they appear to have closed down - no reply to an email and their web domain is no longer valid. Also looks like late accounts on companies house.

I’m aware of shiply - any other recommendations?

Have you any facilities to stick them on a half pallet? If so there's loads of pallet delivery companies who would undercut Shiply.

Paisley freight used to be the go to for shipping wheels.

No idea though if they still are as I haven't used them in 10 years

I found paisley to be very unhelpful with shipping some wheels recently, if I couldn't supply my own pallet they couldn't help me.

I booked with these guys instead

https://directcouriersolutions.com/

Paid I think £137 for someone to pick up 4 x 20" wheels with tyres and bring them from Wigan to Cardiff same day and they dealt with all the packaging using their "VIP service". Cheaper options were available too.

I used them last year for one wheel and it was great service.

I think with Paisley if its 20" or over it needs to be on a pallet, otherwise they are just packaged, price also depends if they are with / without tyres

Specific rims table is at https://www.paisleyfreight.com/alloy-wheel-courier

Edited to add -- they aren't really based in Paisley, they are in Inchinnan (near the airport), but "Glasgow Airport Freight" would probably give people the wrong idea.

Paisley Freight collections for wheels are usually something like a TNT truck or similar when I've used them. Last time was about 2 years ago.

carpartcouriers.co.uk are cheaper than Paisley Freight, I use them regularly and have no issues. They sub the delivery out to DPD .

I just looked up their prices for 4x 18" rims and you're right, significantly cheaper (£34) as long as you're talking mainland UK (their prices go a bit bonkers -- to £83 -- if you're in the highlands or somewhere like that).

A comparable quote from paisley is £42 (4x 18" rims-only)

When I had to ship a complete set of wheels across the country I found it much cheaper to courier each one individually rather than as one shipment!

They are based in Paisley, off Inchinnan Road.. Inchinnan is the other side of the Airport entirely.

DPD local are the cheapest for me, depending on how big they are. 4 parcels @ 15kgs each, 60x60x30 is about £25 door to door (not drop at shop) and I’ve found that they aren’t religious about the dimensions as long as you don’t take the mick.

Thanks for all the replies. DPD looked good but if you read the fine print tyres and wheels are actually on their prohibited list So Paisley Freight is looking like the best option.
