I had a few small niche antique items to potentially sell for some much needed cash ,after finding a trader which specialises in this stuff and some email discussion later he basically said he would agree to buy them for the price I wanted but would need to see them in person first just to check they were as it seemed etc

Because the shop seemed very trusted and genuine and I thought I could trust them in this deal .I agreed I would post them on signed for delivery very well packaged for either purchase or return ,3 days later after the same man signed for the delivery (which I have proof of and a photo) and received them I hear nothing back to my messages politely asking for an update

I wonder if I should just say in a few days I’ve arranged for the box to be returned with Royal Mail please re package it before I drive down myself and make a nuisance of myself

I get the feeling they are just chancers and never intended to pay me which is surprising considering who they are but I won’t include this info just yet to give them the benefit of the doubt ,
How much longer should I wait before coming to the assumption I’ve been scammed ?

I’m know the obvious thing is not to ever send anything without payment but I have the proof he doesn’t own my items in the email

Not quite sure what answer you are expecting on here?

Do they have a phone number?

Just worried I was done and wanted a few opinions, before I sent them items ,emails were replied to promptly.they have phone a number but with emails there is evidence of the conversation .they also have my number but not got any calls
Inside the box also stated it was from me and sale or return

Ultimately, nobody on here really knows.

When you refer to a shop, is it a shop address you have sent it to, of an established business, or just the address of somebody you have found online?

If it's an established business in proper premises, with a known decent reputation, I would probably be a little more relaxed, although by now I would really expect some kind of acknowledgement just to say they have them.

If not, I'd probably be heading there ASAP to see if you can retrieve your items, presuming they are of value that it's worth it.

Yes established shop in high end premises with good reviews ,spoke with manager and he signed for and received the box .considering the circumstances I would expect an answer by now especially because I said to him I’m offering them at trade prices and just want to recoup what they costs me for quick sale

Because that's too obvious. Better to quiz a load of strangers on the internet who know nothing of the specifics of what has happened and the people involved.

OP, just phone them and record the conversation on your mobile.

Tell them you are recording it when they answer in case they get shirty.

Could be ‘niche antique items’ they need time to appraise them.

So I eventually hear back from the said person explaining that one item was not exactly like what they thought and restored in one area , so the deal couldn't go ahead but the better examples were fine though.got the baloney dealer story .'' I can buy x like this for x amount in auction '' , we have to make a living ... made me wonder why he didn't just say that when he saw the detailed photos I originally sent .what a time waster

Anyway after the whole saga with these clowns I had enough and just said that's fine for this amount which was half which I wanted ,
Oh well ...that's how they get successful I guess in this business but being chancers and selling very overpriced such items

This thread shows how not to sell items.

Buyer knows full well you won’t bother trying to re-ship the items back to yourself and lowballs you.

That’s what you get for not doing things in person.

Don't torture yourself doing that, it won't change anything now.
