Buying from the US, stung by Parcelfarce for customs charges

It says no custom charge if worth less than £135, but that must be on item[s] that you buy in the USA
and bring through customs rather than buying stuff online and having it delivered.
I bought car part recently for £50 and the import duty/VAT
was about £13 which you paid when you ordered it.

Well the company replied promptly and reimbursed me. So big thumbs up for them. They didn't admit any error or give any explanation so know idea what happened. Can only assume somebody forgot to fill out a form.
The company may wing it knowing that not all packages will get intercepted by customs in the various countries they ship too. Also, not everyone will complain (depending on the custom rate) when they do, they refund the money you’ve already paid for the customs fees.
