I'm now retired, but sometimes I look back and think I would like to have been a script writer for Coronation Street.

The current shower are useless.

Failing that, maybe a History or Geography teacher.

Be realistic, we can't all be millionaire rock stars or premiership footballers.

That's definitely a dream job.

Another good one is a lolipop man....You don't start till you're 65.

Lollipop men/women do get a bit if abuse so not sure that would be for me.

But if you like the power kick of stopping cars at will I can imagine it is an awesome job.

The other one I was going to mention was a condom tester but at my age I am not sure I am up for it.

I have a few dream jobs but all of them require me winning the lottery first as the pay wouldn't fund my lifestyle.

eg. event host on a stately home owned by me or drive tour hotel and route tester.

Voice actor/dub actor. You can make a lot of money if you are lucky (eg voice the Simpsons) but you can stay anonymous.

Be in a band but not the singer - again, you can make a decent amount of money, have a great lifestyle yet be fairly anonymous (could just be me but for my favourite bands I know the lead singers but I could walk past anyone else in the band and not recognise them).

That was the non serious part of my reply, games tester would probably be the actual thing I'd want to do or maybe pilot.

Vehicle development. Having a strong influence on how a car will eventually feel. Getting paid to thrash prototypes on track. Lots of interesting travel around the world, road trips for thousands of miles across multiple continents.

Likewise. A helicopter one, in my case.

I think I'd like to be a pilot as well. But a cargo pilot. Don't know why. Maybe it's so I can fly the old DHL 757s.

I have three dream jobs, one is attainable now, the other two i should have thought of years ago and i could theoretically be doing them now

Attainable dream job - Full time sim racer, dabbled a wee bit and with some dedicated practice, this is the most attainable of the three right now

Dream job 2: flying a shuttle sea plane round some Islands, could be up in Scotland or some tropical destination but i do like the idea of flying guests to an Island destination.

Dream Job 3: Canadair pilot in mainland Europe fighting wildfires.

Even though i am convinced a full time sim racer is attainable, i am also smart enough to know that in reality it is too late in life for me to try and do it, same goes with the other roles i would class as a dream job

One of my neighbours is a Vice Admiral and one time captain of the Ark Royal. He's a delightful chap. He writes a small column in our monthly village magazine detailing some of his exploits. I'm among many villagers urging him to turn them into an autobiography. He has led an extraordinary life.

Personally, I worked my dream job as a psychotherapist at a rehab hospital. To play a part in enabling individuals to recover and reengage with the world was both rewarding and humbling.

Notwithstanding the fact that we 'failed' far more often than we succeeded.
