Phone / tablet repair course

My daughter smashed her iPhone screen. I was looking for independent repairs near where we live. Turns out the next one is almost 100km from where we live (we don’t live in the UK)

I’m pretty handy with most things and will have a go with repairing my daughter’s screen with Ifixit, which got me thinking about taking a course to learn properly with a view to a possible side hustle. Has anyone taken a course to learn phone / tablet repair? Any recommendations for London area? Depending on course length and if it’s interesting enough, I can add a few days next time I’m there.

Youtube is your friend. My son broke his iPhone screen. With parts bought from Ebay and Youtube videos we fixed it. No one was more surprised than me when it actually worked.

Where do you live extraT, I think a lot depends peoples mindset, when it comes to how they view broken electronics. In some locations they will be viewed as a disposable item, whereas other locations there may be a thriving repair network.

Guessing if the nearest is 100 kms away, your location may fall in to the former. I doubt you’ll find any useful courses (short duration) in the UK, probably best following GliderRider’s recommendation, of ‘youtube’. Keep in mind, the time taken to acquire ‘RELIABLE’ replacement parts.

I knew some people based in Africa, toyed with the idea of sending 2nd hand phones there. Most people here when replacing a phone, just retire the old to storage. Offered money ‘no interest’ came up with innovative ideas, i.e. sponsor poor children’s education ‘still no interest’. Gave up on the idea.
