The phone is probably wrecked as ice can do a lot of damage, more so if it wasn't waterproof and full of water before freezing.

Not sure how you would explain to your teenage daughter, you lost her phone...

Lost the utility of the thing.

But anyway, one of the rules of life is if you misplace something it'll be in the last place you look.

Seems similar to those holiday insurance claims for cameras or phones lost over the side of ferries. You know where it is, but recovery is impossible/impractical.

The rule or parenting also dictates a lost item is where you put it!

My daughter is lost to me, I know where she lives, 1000 miles away, I told her that she would be lost to me if she continued with her lifestyle, she chose to continue.

Many interpretations of the word Lost

Sad story, but its got absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

Read the heading

'Is something lost if you know where it is'

I know where she is but she is lost, therefore in my example anything can be lost even if I know where it is. it is out of reach or unavailable.

Very, very simple.

You'd hardly carry on looking for it after you've found it though hehe

What about Schrödinger's lost?
My wife's terrible navigational skill leave her lost, she will phone me up and say so, but I can look at her phone location and tell her exactly where she is so not lost from my perspective.

I understood your very, very simple post, I just found it to be strange given that we're talking about a mobile phone that's stuck in ice.

I have a smart home sensor that sits (sat) on the top of my kitchen cabinets, so when you walk into the kitchen at night the lights come on dim.

A few weeks ago I was messing about with an LED strip on the top of the cabinets and nudged it and in slow motion it rolled to the gap the electricians had cut out to send a cable down the back.... at which point it entered the false wall inside the cupboard, fell down 2 more levels, hit the floor and rolled under the kitchen cupboards and I think fell into a hole under the suspended floor.

Its gone. Gone gone.

However it still tells me the temp and light levels in its little spot... battery should last a year or so.

Had the baseboards off to try and find it but in the end gave up.

Yes as you normally stop looking for something after you’ve found it.

Why do you think that might be?!
