Having a daughter aged between 13 and 17

My daughter is now 18 and in first year of Uni. Tbh, she wasn't much of an issue, yes, as with all kids, we had run ins etc but on the whole she's been lovely.

I worry about her much more now she's away from home than I ever did while she was here. Probably because she's now doing some adulting stuff and I still feel the need to protect her.

I have to try not to think about the what if's, I don't like it!!!

Girls nowadays have a tougher time of it, peer pressure, beauty issues, social media, etc., than lads.

My girls are now 22 & 23. Their teens were somewhat tricky. More than I recall mine was in the 80s, despite the obvious gender related growing issues for my girls, obvs.

I do worry about her safety though. She's at Uni and has been spiked twice, and last night her small group of friends were mugged in the wee hours. She's OK (got one of the c#unts in a headlock and smashed his face into a wall) but I am fuming!!!

That’s what I worry about, my daughters 15 and generally no bother. She went to a Taylor Swift concert with a friend a few months ago at Wembley, I was glad when she got home!

Hope your daughter is ok and the incident doesn’t stop her having fun (but not too much fun).

How do you know she was spiked? Only asking because I remember a study done into teen girls that reported being spiked and most of them that said they were spiked once their blood was tested were found to be simply very drunk. I can’t remember the percentages but it was a very small number that had actually been drugged. The rest were just not used to drinking that much.

Not saying it’s of much help really as a girl who’s too pissed to take care of herself is also not in a good place but at least that is something that they can potentially try to avoid happening.

My sons 14. I couldn't begin to explain what I went through this year. So I couldn't see having a daughter as worse.

The first time it was done by a barman in my local Wetherspoons. He got sacked the following day (CCTV evidence) and is subject to a Police investigation. The second time was at Sussex Uni. She's a modest drinker and takes no drugs.

I have a 16 year old daughter and she is lovely. The academic pressures seem much worse than I when I was at school, so I feel sorry for her really. I'm very close with both my children and find parenting at this age much much easier than when they were little.

I'm glad I've got girl's to be honest, because I don't really have the temperament for boys, and I'd lose my rag with boys too easily I reckon.

I'm the opposite to that, and my eldest daughter is 16, and I preferred it when she was much younger. Although she's always been a pain in the backside in fairness. Our youngest(8) is a lot easier in comparison, but that might just be because we're a bit more experienced at the parenting game now though.
