This sensor (?) has recently appeared at a sewage pumping station in a little village near me. Stuck on top of a pole about 8’ off the ground.

Any idea what it is for?

Doesn’t seem to have any external holes. I was thinking maybe a ‘presence’ or temperature sensor?

It’s a level sensor.
When the sewage reaches the top of the sensor it flashes a little led light to let you know you’re in the st.

It's the mobile data aerial. Search for "dome antenna" and you'll see loads of pictures of exactly this.

Ah, trick of the light. Thought I was looking at an open slot to the rear. Broadband malordorous emergency warning system. smile
