Getting these calls regularly now:

"Hi. It's Chris, your local energy adviser...." Just a recorded message that goes on for a minute.

Never bothered to listen to the end of it. Presume it's some sort of scam.

Anyone else getting these? How do we stop them? Permanently.

I get them periodically - sometimes in a week a couple of times and then other weeks / months nothing.
The first time I asked them to speak normally but obviously they couldn’t !
As soon as Chris announces himself ( assuming I’ve actually bothered to answer the phone as opposed to letting it go to message ) I just put the phone down.
In contrast to the “not Microsoft “calls where usually you end up being sworn at I can’t say they bother me.

I have this call once a week, an automated call but there must be some AI connection, it will terminate the call if you dont respond at the right time

Google seems to fairly good at blocking spam calls to my mobile. Mixed feelings as can be good to mess with the tts.

I get them telling me my loft insultion needs inspecting, I just give them the address of one of the town pubs and arrange a time for inspection. Either that or an empty house that's up for sale.

I've had the exact same guy phone me with that opening gambit (live not recorded), at two different properties in Essex, at least 100 times, these past 10-15 years. I say nothing, just put the phone down, but he clearly doesn't make a record of such dead end encounters. Just keeps trying...

Hard to block them, as they come from a variety of numbers.

You lucky people you get Chris! I get Gabby or Debbie or some other similar name. Pre-recorded northern woman with the numbers always coming from Aylesbury or Portsmouth or some other random location.

Telephone preference service. Makes it illegal for anyone to call you like this, doesn’t stop the, but should get you off the lists

I got the same guy. He told me my house was on some kind of Energy Performance Register and that my Loft Insulation was due an inspection. When i told him we didn't have a loft he didn't seem surprised.

If you block them they will just call again on another number

We had them call 9 times in work the other day, all from different numbers

For land lines this is the best thing we ever bought, we have extension phones which ring but unless this rings too we ignore, we loaded all the numbers we wish to recieve, genuine callers get a chance to tell you who they are, scammers don't
