Monday is the first day of the week. NOT Sunday!

It's called the weekEND for a reason. I like to see my working week and weekend as distinct chunks. Not split in half.

And don't being doing that silly wraparound thing where you put the last few days at the top because you ran out of space at the bottom.

How hard can it be? The one I got given as a present is going straight in the recycling.

I absolutely agree that Monday is the first day of the week but this matter is not as clear cut as one might think.
As usual, religion is involved
Why is Sunday the first day of the week in UK?

Which Day is the Beginning of the Week? | THE SEIKO MUSEUM GINZA
The Gregorian calendar, currently used in most countries, is derived from the Hebrew calendar, where Sunday is considered the beginning of the week. Although in Judaism the Sabbath is on Saturday, while in Christianity it is on Sunday, Sunday is considered the beginning of the week in both religious traditions.

A week has two ends. Why can't there be a bit of weekend at each?

The world is split roughly 50:50 in terms of who views Sunday as the start of the week and who views Monday as the start of the week:

I’m a bit rusty on all this nonsense but didn’t the imaginary sky fairy rest on the 7th day after creating the world, thinks giving us Sunday?

Many years ago Mrs Cube worked for a newspaper. The week started on a Sunday for that industry, apparently. I assume that's when they made up the news for the Monday edition.

In spite of my best efforts I have not been able to persuade that the week starts on a Monday, stupid bint.

I quite agree. Having been given a calendar for Christmas, it saves me having to go and get one but unfortunately it starts on a Sunday. I mentioned to Mrs M only this evening what absolute bks it was.

Only another 52 weeks and I can try again. That being said, this one has some splendid pictures of steam locomotives on it so it's not entirely bks.

No. There is a beginning and an end. It's not like a table.

Thank you. I live in England so I rest my case.

A law should be passed with appropriate punishment for those selling incorrect calendars. smile

Since we're ranting about calendars! biggrin

Every year a magazine I buy semi regularly has a calendar attached around Christmas time. Its only a cheap a3 folded thing with a picture. But the boxes for the days are a good size so you can write notes in.

This year for the first time since 2009! No calendar! eek

What a mean thing to do!

What has NZ ever done to deserve that?!
