Any suggestions for really loud alarm clocks please?
My 18yr old son really struggles waking up in the morning, his phone alarm and any alarm clock he's tried fail to wake him.
As a super heavy sleeper who is capable of sleeping through various loud things I can sympathise. My 18yr old son really struggles waking up in the morning, his phone alarm and any alarm clock he's tried fail to wake him.
Two alarms, one close to bed, the second across the room. Old school bell type ones that really shake you from your sleep.
I found an intrusive noise rather than a loud one was most effective when I was a yoof. Get one of those alarms with a buzzer rather than a bell, and put it on the other side of the room. He'll have to get up to turn it off, unlike a smart watch and phone combo.
Or a failing that, a pail of water to the face will always wake them.

Alarm clocks for the hard-of-hearing are extra loud and have a vibrating pad to put under the pillow.

There are 2 potential issues.
Either he genuinely sleeps through the alarm, due to poor hearing, an incredibly deep sleeper or possibly even able to while asleep turn an alarm off.
Or he is just not a morning person, wakes up and thinks sod it.
I'm not judging at all, I used to be that person, I was an up late and struggle to get up early person, but I can honestly count on about 2 fingers the amount of times I honestly slept through an alarm, despite using the slept through excuse.
Going to bed earlier obviously helps, it helps to wake naturally, but by far the biggest change for me was leaving curtains open at night. Going to sleep when dark and waking up with the light. It transformed my sleep patterns and I felt much healthier for it, I don't need to now, but it was honestly what I used to transition from being a teenager with sticky back syndrome to a grown up, honestly he needs to do the same I suspect.
