In my daughters class there is a lad from a family with 5 kids

Neither of the parents work, registered disabled

The dad does gardening / cash in hand jobs and similar buying selling on Facebook

They have a decent sized housing association house and a new car

They are having another baby imminently - Caesarian

What realistically do they get per kid - is it not capped at 2?

Yes I could ask him but I am much braver on the internet

How would anyone here know? Ask him if you are that bothered or do you just want to watch the internet pile on for this mystery family that only you know?

Child benefit is not capped at 2 kids it is uncapped. Universal credit is however capped.

The answer is probably an amount that will annoy you, so just move on.

It's frustrating, but that's the system-- I say this as someone that knows very little about the benefits system. It seems to me that focusing on what folk can do rather than what they can't might be a more efficient use of resources and lead to better outcomes-- perhaps that's what's happening, I've no idea.

Maybe they've inherited money from family, selling a business, winning the lottery.....

All in, about 10-12k per child. So it's only max 84k. Not a lot for a family that size to live on. Nursery fees alone will hammer that number.

Nursery fees so the kids don't interfere with daytime Carlsberg special brew time?

I’ve got 6 kids, didn’t realise that’s a bad thing?
Don’t ‘get’ or expect any special treatment, pay my tax bill like anyone else.
Who are you picking on next?

Have a play, I got £26,500 a year in total if both disabled and registered carer for each other.

Upping the disability benefits to the max for the two adults kept the total at £26,500. Same if one of the kids was disabled, I assume more would still max out at £26,500.

He's picking on those with 6 kids and no job. Don't think they're paying any tax.

Op, you basically have three choices:
A) Accept high level of immigration - the system on who gets in can be improved undoubtedly to work better for us.
B) Some people need to have high numbers of kids and be supported to do so to balance those who don’t.
C) Continue to see increased tax level per person and reduced services.

Or likely a blend.

What you can’t have is nobody coming in to the country to work, nobody having lots of kids and lower tax/good services.

Yeah, and by the time they have to pay school fees they'll be fked.

Arguably not good for the planet, but good for having a future working population to fund things.

In the immediate context of this thread, if you can afford them and care for them without outside intervention, it's not really anyone else's business.

Sounds like a huge amount of work though.

I didn't see where the OP stated the parents were drinking during the day, is it something you are aware of?

Not paying any tax?

Wouldn't they pay VAT on stuff they bought if VAT were applicable?

The allegation seems to be that the father at least is not so disabled that he can't work, and that he is working off grid defrauding hmrc.
Who knows whether that is true though.
