What’s your best ‘Gotcha’ moment? I mean things like metaphorically tripping a ‘Jay from the inbetweeners’ up, or similar.
I did a fun one last night. I was at a bar, and a girl who thought she knew me started to chat to me. The local ‘elevenerife’ ‘Jay from the inbetweeners’ bluffer was stood nearby, earwigging, as usual. She thought she and I may have been at the same school, or college and asked me what school and college I went to. So I told her, then (without being asked) Mr Bluffer chimes in with “well I went to Eton college”. She said something along the lines of “oh that’s pretty neat”. So I turned to blagheart and said “quae domas eras In”. He did not have a clue what I’d just asked. It was a bit like a military Walt, claiming to have been in 22 or Pathfinders, not being able to recite their number immediately. I don’t normally bother engaging with such folk, but his butting in, did irritate me a bit. What’s your best effort?

Why would anyone claim to have been to Slough grammar if they hadn't? Or even if they had?

I fear this will be a short thread. I doubt anyone can top the OP's anecdote.

I didn’t see a VPL, I did have a good check, so I’m not sure there were any to fall off.

I'm comprehensive taught, so merely wondering if Dbag became teabag as a result of his Latin know how.

Beats me. He disappeared quicker than a cat which had just been baptised, so I figure he hadn’t.

I’m comprehensive taught as well, Latin isn’t really my thing, but my old man attended Clongowes Wood College, and he did like his Latin. I can just about remember some words, and the grammatical rules, but I couldn’t hold a conversation in Latin. I’m more into coffee than tea wink
