I reckon these Gazelles must be at least 35 if not 40 years old. A bit faded now and relegated to garden use but still going strong. Hate to get rid of them as Ive had them so long.
Anyone beat that?

I play tennis and get through a lot of shoes. When they start losing their support/padding a bit that’s where injuries start so the shoe can look tidy but no good for tennis anymore.

They do get used in other ways, casual walking n general use. These are probably getting on for ten years old and are used for cycling. Cycling is just a fitness thing so I don’t buy the “correct “ Shoes. I think They will be replaced soon.

I've got some Adidas trainers I used for Cross Country running which I bought when I was 16. I'm 42 now.....
Also have some highly desirable Silver Shadows from the Army when I was 18....all the grip of freshly laid wet turd. Useless things.

I have a pair of Scarpa Mojitos,6 years old and have worn through the Vibram sole.
I won’t throw them out yet because the uppers are still in great condition.

18 months to 2 years. I have one pair of Merrells that I wear all the time and replace when they get worn out. Trouble is the same shoe is rarely available as they change range all the time

Crikey - some of you need to remember to put stuff in the bin every now and then - those shown above are a right state!

ha ha yes, but as I said I use those for cycling, mostly off road, gravel, sometimes wet, no point ruining a decent pair of trainers. the other ones that get transferred to normal wear dont look wrecked just that the protection for my knees has gone.

Do you still use the running shoes? They "should" be replaced around 400ish miles....

Quality of Merrels has taken a diver over the years, I used to wear them almost exclusively but the last pair I bought didnt feel as good and squeaked when I walked in them, returned them in the end and have had Sketchers since. Oldest pair of those is 6 years old or so now relegated to gardening or anything else where they will get dirty

Adidas Norton, bought 94 or 95 (iirc). Skateboard shoes, replaced by Busenitz. They were re-released a few years back, with a different name and some utterly atrocious colourways. Glad I kept the OGs.

The Adidas are relatively new, only harking back from 2013, worn ever weekend, for washing cars, pottering about in the garden, etc.
The Vans are a little older, unsure on an exact date but I remember wearing them to my college induction day, I’d have been 16 and they weren’t new then, so that puts them at least 36 years old and they still occasionally get a roll out on the push bike. rotate

Trainers reach the minging stage pretty quickly. But I had a pair of leather Puma Romas that were about 17 years old when I put them in the bin earlier this month. The uppers and original laces were fine but the soles were coming off. Replaced with Adidas The Sneeker.
